The FS website says the computer comes with Media Centre Edition, but does it come with the Media Centre remote? If I want to get a Media Centre Edition TV tuner and remote, how much would that run me?

No remote. No TV tuner.

But if I didn't get such a good deal from Dell, I'd almost be miffed that this Acer deal is even better!

I say, YES, it's a good deal!

The pic posted by FS has the remote. It doesn't say anything about it in the descriptions though.

I don't need the monitor...if I get this, do you guys think FS would lower the price in echange for not getting it? How much of a discount would be good, considering it retails for $279 on their site?

The same PC/LCD package is on sale again this week at FS for $799, but it now includes a Compaq all-in-one. It's in the online flyer.

no, no, no... it's this package that's advertised in the flyer this week, at least in QC http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=BDL10001641&catid=24014

and, if you want to do a stock check online... i suggest looking up each individual item up separately:

CPU: http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10079765&catid=10607
Monitor: http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10078438&catid=22335
Canon thingy: http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0665000FS10078866&catid=10781&logon=&langid=EN

got the package from last week's flyer (sans Canon) and it's a very good buy. you can get just the tower too for $699..

I picked this up in FS 2 weeks ago, but guess what, this week they have the same package except they include a Canon MP160 Multifunction instead of a 64MB flash drive.

So I go back to the FS and exchange the flash drive for the printer no problem without having to return the computer to the store. I would say I'm pretty happy with this deal, since this is the best dual core package you can get for $799.

You could have kept the flash drive and also gotten the Canon. That flash drive was for any computer combo purchased at the time. The Canon now is specifically part of the Acer package.

I just returned from FS, showed them my receipt from two weeks ago and got the Canon no problems. It's pretty bulky, but it's free so can't complain.

How quite does this system run? I'm generally looking for a system that pretty much runs soundless. Anyone can give me an idea on how it sounds? Slap a 6600gt on this thing and your good to go.

There is not. Just the computer, keyboard/mouse, monitor, and printer/scanner. No USB printer cable either (I'm not computer savvy, so hope that makes sense).

That's been normal for many years now. The stores like it that way because they make more money on a $30 USB cable than on the printer.

oic do u think this system will be ok to overclock to a certain amount because i am not really that smart about computers so probably i would not touch anything but just wondering because im thinking of getting a new computer. im not a hardcore gamer but maybe some games like nba 07 and nhl 07 which do not need that great specs.

I am curious about whether this computer can handle a game like NHL 07 as well. Here's the requirements (http://www.windowsmarketplace.com/details.aspx?view=info&itemid=3005119#productSpecs) I found on the game:

System Requirements / OS Required Microsoft Windows 2000
System Requirements / OS Required Microsoft Windows XP
Software Requirements DirectX 9.0c
Peripheral / Interface Devices DVD-ROM, 3D accelerator card with 64MB of memory, DirectX 9.0b compatible sound card

even a 3 year old pentium 4 3.2ghz can handle almost any game easily IF you have at least a 7600GS or X1800 and do not go over 1024x768

Oct 30th, 2006, 04:54 PM
I'm guessing, yes it would be able to handle NHL 07, but of course, that all depends on how high of a resolution you're planning to play the game on :)
