I am looking to get a remote car starter for a 2005 Toyota Corolla. The car will be parked outside all winter, hence the reason for a remote car starter. (Location: Toronto)
Can anyone recommend a good remote car starter and also a reliable installation shop? If you know the cost, that would be helpful also.
Any additional advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Call Gaby Tabangi at 416-663-4334. He's the owner of Tabangi Electronics located on Steeles just east of the 400 Hwy. Gaby has installed all of my 3 remote starters and I've had them for years and they work fine. As for cost, I can't remember as to how much I paid. All that I know is that Gaby does the installs himself and he's a pro at it!!!!
Tell him that sunny referred you!!!!

Dont do it, idling cold is very bad for your car and environment. Install an electric heater and use timer plug. So you just set a specific time the heater will turn on to heat the cockpit. When you start the engine dont let it idle for more than 20 secs, just go slowly to warm up the engine DONT IDLE.
Please rethink twice if you love your car and the environment you leave it.

How can you heat the "cockpit" with a block heater?

I think a better question (unless you already know the answer) is which one to get. When I looked before, a lot of them had trouble co-existing with the OEM stuff.
I know many of the more expensive ones that replaces everything (so you get remote starter, keyless entry, alarm, etc) will work. One thing you should realize is that you will lose the electronic immobilizer, unless someone has found a way around that since then.
