I am looking to buy a car for everyday use. not anything expensive. I am a student but i am not looking into driving the car to school since i cant afford the parking there. anyone have any good suggestion as to what would be the best car for a student, insurance and gas wise as well as the chepest to maintain.

If you are not driving to school, then why buy a car?
Car is for your daily transporation, if you not using it much...then dun bother, save your money for something else....

if you cant afford parking at school, how can you afford parking anywhere? anywayz, seems like the best answer for you is public transit.

otherwise, scooter/ moped.

if you are looking for a new car, cant really go wrong with the yaris, fit, and versa. all practicality and fuel economy are pretty good .

Instead of asking about what car to buy, why dont you answer my PMs or pickup my phone calls about the motorola pebl?

Y would you tell me to hold the phone for you for 5 days and give me a meetup time in toronto and not show up, or have the decency to call me back for two days? Y wouldn't u even just pickup your cell and let me know that you are not interested anymore so i dont wait in Toronto for hours?

Not to say parking is cheap in Toronto, cuz its damn expensive, but if you can't afford that, do you think you can handle the insurance and gas + maintance or car payments?

Well, if he wants to contribute to the statistics about motor vehicle accidents being the leading cause of death for young people...

I do think there are a lot of 'cheap' choices that are substantially safer than the GM J bodies...

I'd say a 99 corolla well that was my first car. Good on gas not heavy on looks but durable and cheap on insurance 4 door!

Maybe he didn't show up because he had no car, and he is looking for a car quickly so he can come pick up the phone?

from personal experience: Toyotas and honda's are very durable and fairly cheap on parts. Toyota tercel, corolla are really good on gas. My gf has a 93 corolla, that thing is a rock...never has problem. I personally own a civic...fun to drive, great on gas (avg. 35 mpg); Im on my parent's insurance so its cheap.

if you want a newer car, Hyundai/Kia (i.e. Accent/Rio) are always cheap; but i have no personal experience with them.

hope that helps.

i know lots of ppl wit hondas and toyotas, they're truly solid!
i used to hav a ford but it gave me little troubles sometimes.
japanese cars need the least maintenance from my own experience, my family hav 4 accords and they seldom maintain the cars, now they still have the oldest 1 (94 accord) running 400k+

but for a student, i suggest u to stick the insurance wit ur parents and try to avoid cars like civic, integra... i know ppl like my age prefer those kind of cars (im one of them too) but the insurance... you can end up spendin the price of a car on insurance every year
