Has anyone seen a cheap water alarm that beeps (or bellows) when there is water? I vaguely remember one in a dollar store. (I have seen them $9.99 in the us, or wireless ones are more, but I was just hoping for a cheap one that takes a battery that i could get in gta)

Thanks (I guess!), I didn't know about these, and now I want one. RFD is an expensive site to spend much time on.

I still have not found a dollar store version (ie $1-2), of a water alarm.

However, I picked one up at home depot called wateralarm (6178850001 upc code) for $9.99. (near the toilet display) It says the battery works 5 years, until the battery expires. (9 volt alkaline). It has a 6 foot wire to 'sensor' (two terminals) also. Not too bad. Makes a loud noise. (for 3 days with new battery). Since it just monitors for lower resistance, probably doesn't need much power when open circuit. (guess it would not work with distilled water despite the name since distilled water does not conduct.)

Also canada tire has a remote wireless water detector ($19.99) (skylink wa-318t)that works with a 4 channel receiver (21.99). (wireless). These prices have really come down. (got a set plus motion detector for xtra 21.99). Maybe i should measure the current each of these takes. (but i'm too lazy). These units come with a lithium battery included in the transmitters, and a power adapter for the receiver.
