I'm looking to buy a decent size TV for a small room, when I came by this TV. http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0926INGFS10063717&catid=23239
I wasnt looking for an HDTV, but this is a good size and within my pricerange. The HD part was a bonus (even though its ony 540p/1080i).

So I'm wondering if there are any better HDTV tube displays within my pricerange that i should be aware of? or are there any great deals on HDTV tube Tvs out there?

thanks

A high quality tube in a 30" size such as a Sony will blow the doors off any similarly sized and priced LCD. If you have the room and muscle you can't go wrong.

Im happy with the Panasonic wide screen I got at Leons a few months back due to my old TV blowing up.

Picture is great, wide screen is nice. It was for the lving room, not the theatre room. I think its around $500 now. Was only a 26" though, but the picture quality is excellnet

Tube TV as well

I dont really like the picture quality on the LCD / plasma screens... it seems like they are pushing crippled technology on us.
I diddn't even think of checking leons, thanks for the info. I'll keep on looking.

jumping from Standard television to an HD set can be pricey. If your new TV doesn't have a cable input (which some of them don't) then you're gonna need an HD box or something to convert analog to component. And standard def TV without an HD box looks like crap on an HD set. Tons of artifacting and such although this varies from TV to TV.

Plus you're gonna have to buy component cables for all your devices if you want to get the best picture out of them.

SED TVs are coming out soon. You get the quality of a CRT but with the thickness of an LCD. They'll probably be priced really high though.
