I have been looking for a laptop the last couple months.
Saw one on RFD for a reasonable price with a full 3 year warranty.
Checked everything out and made a successful transaction.
Both parties were satisfied.

I see laptops etc. sitting on RFD BST section for a couple months.
Mostly because the seller wants a ridiculous price. (topic of mine awhile ago)
Sometimes the buyer wants a reasonable price and never sells it.

Usually people want to buy new? Then you have to pay the tax etc.
Expensive.
People will buy off Ebay but won't buy off RFD. There is some protection with
Paypal etc. on Ebay but with RFD most of the posters are from the GTA so you meet them personally and takeout all of the risk of shipping.

For discussion. I am an older guy on RFD, most of the people are much younger than me. I have the confidence to buy used or BNIB.
I check it all out thoroughly before purchasing.

Is it confidence?
Is it the hassle of buying used?
Is it the risk?

Just wondering.

I dont understand, you want to know why theres a lack of buying on RFD?

Well, it's simple... There isn't.

If you look in most of the other sections, product is moved at a disgusting pace. Really, really fast. High ticket items though, like laptops, are in lesser demand. Thus, not as many are sold.

Plus, theres the reasons you already listed (which makes me wonder why you asked) - being, that the supply of laptops is high and the demand is low. People however are not willing to deal with substantial losses on their laptops, so the prices dont budge. Thus, lack of sales.

Well said, with my laptop, I'm using it right now. So unless I get an offer I can't resist, I'll keep it.

Until then, happy shopping.

I swear., DEJA VU. I SERIOUSLY remember reading another thread about the exact same issue....I was even wondering because I made a conscious point of checking OPs date on thread creation but alas it was today??? Wasn't there a similar thread a month ago about computer products, and remaining "avail" because of pricing issues?

Anyway., My first post in the new God-Awful-but-will-nevertheless-grow-on-me skin.

It's tough selling big-ticket items. But if you're price is right, it'll get sold eventually.

1. Used feels awkard, even though theres nothing wrong with it.
2. Thanks to RFD, I've saved money and bought some good quality items at a lower price than normal.
3. Nothing against bst, just nothing that hits me to go get it right now.
