Hey everyone,

I just recently picked up some infinity P160s. (Primus 160 is another name I believe)

Anyway, I know exactly what I want.. I just don't know if it exists! I think it's a receiver but because most of my stuff is computer stuff I don't know if it will work.

WHAT I WANT

Inputs:
6 channel analog input (3 1/8" mini stereo cables from X-fi Music in my PC)

Outputs:
1x 1/8" mini stereo for my headphone amp
1x 6 channel analog output (3x 1/8" again, for analog 6 channel connection to z5500)
2x stereo output with speaker wire (1 output for each p150)

Please let me know if something like this exists??

In case I made that too complicated.. I want to hook PC --> Audio Receiver thing --> headphones, 2x p150 speakers (speaker wire), logitehc z5500 via analog all at the same time.

Thanks for any help!!

Many recievers will have most of what you are looking for EXCEPT for the 6ch analog pre-outs for your computer speakers. ONly high end ones have that.

How about if you use the digital out from your sound card to hook up to receiver, and then use the analog outs for your computer speakers?

Yes, you need a receiver and some cable adapters.

Pretty much all receiver have a 1/4" headphone jack so you will need a 1/8" to 1/4" adapter.

Pretty much all receivers use rca connectors as opposed to your 1/8" so you will need six rca to 1/8" adapters cables.

You will also need a receiver that supports 6 channel (I assume you mean Front Left, Front Right, Side Left, Side Right, Side Read Left, Side Rear Right) external in and 6 channel pre out.

You would connect your X-Fi to the external input and the z5500 to the pre out.

And then your 160 speakers to the front left and right.

So I believe it is possible, but receivers with 6 channel ext inputs and 6 channel pre outs are generally only found on higher end receivers and dont come cheap. Below is my receiver and you can see the connections you would have to make.

If memory serves me correctly the z5500 have a digital input. You should be able to connect the pc to the receiver and the receiver to the z5500 all thru the digital connectors.

Thanks for all the responses everyone!

I am definitely not in the market for a high-end receiver. The only reason I need it really is so I can connect my p150s somehow :(

My current setup:

Xbox 360 --> z5500 via digital toslink

Comptuer --> z5500 6 channel analog (this means front, rear, center, sub)

I guess a possible setup for me could be this:

Xbox needs to be digital in, X-fi somehow to receiver(I don't know how to do digital, there's no toslink. and I dont think receiver have dual toslink in?), and then headphones can be RCA out, and z5500 can be digital out, and p150 can be speaker wire out .. I just need to know how to connect both my xbox AND x-fi to a receiver. and I need a cheap one! :D

Thanks so much for the advice everyone. I know about all the various connectors etc, except digital ones.. I just know nothing about receivers! :(

For the non-breakout box X-FIs, you need a 1/8" mini-jack to mono or stereo RCA cable. The mini-jack goes into the X-Fi's digital output, while the RCA goes into the receiver's digital coaxial input. Should be like $5 at any store that sells electronics.
