Went there a month ago. They didn't even have granny apple! Think I'll stick to the other Ten Rens locations. The one on 7 is trying to emulate Go For Tea instead of sticking to its roots

You were right dude, I was sorely disappointed by this new ten rens ... they charge insane prices, why? the place isn't even that nice ... Go For Tea is far better in terms of atmosphere.
It felt like I was sitting in a cafeteria or something.
btw, I spent 16 bucks after taxes and tips on two small bubbles teas with tapioca ...
I don't recommend this place ... standard Ten Ren locations are far better for your money.

I notice one of the links posted has as review on Pearl Harbourfront..... that ought to give you an idea of the audience.
Though Ten Ren has nice deco and good tea, it's too shi shi foo foo. Ten Ren is the anti-RFD.

No, they intentionally charge higher prices in order to position themselves differently than others and to market to a totally different clientele. And yes, there is a big enough client base for that.

Yes, their tea is of better quality. They use whole leaves instead of crumbled leaves most commonly used in other bubble tea shop and packages you can buy from grocery.
But using those high quality tea to make bubble tea ... I can't really tell the difference but seems to be a waste of the tea anyways - therefore, expensive.
As for Go For Tea, they've very good but also expensive (fresh?) fruit tea, which I don't know how to make at home.

There are Tim Horton and Starbucks both serving coffees but their price vary. And TenRen's is much like the Starbucks of bubble tea.
Not to mention the environment is good there, the service is good and they have free wireless connection too. ;)

For $15.xx i can eat a lunch combo or something!!!

Like another poster has said, some ppl are attracted to the higher prices. gives it that exclusivity.
I stopped drinking bbt after highschool years ago, if I do go it's only to chill with friends.
I like go for tea, broke the typical bbt design mold. copycats abound now.

Yeah, Go for Tea has horrible service. Friend oerdered a non milk tea and ended up getting a milk tea. Another friend is a teacher and she wanted to apply as a summer job at go for tea. They told her they require her to fill out some form and provide a picture of herself hahaha.
The best bubble tea is, i'm sad to say, is in vancouver. It's this very small taiwanese restaraunt in the middle of nowhere. It's called No. 1 Beef Noodle House on Willingdon. they use a blender to mix the drinks so that it gives the drinks a light smooth texture and taste.

Yeah I know.
also reminds me of the old bbtea place called Eternity (first markhem place beside ding tai fung). They had a sign up that said they were hiring waiteresses...and at the bottom of the sign was "must be pretty"

you can't blame em really
if they don't say it overtly, they'd call you in for interview and then if they don't like your face say "we'll call you".
Pretty waitresses for better or for worse is a factor in the business along with their service. For the guys, if you are paying that much there's gotta be at least that reason.
Of course it doesn't compensate for poor service.

a friend tried to apply to Go For Tea once...over the phone in an interview, they asked her what size she was, she said M-L. She didn't get the job because all the uniforms are only in size S.
talk about bad practices...

White TeaWhat a load of crap. The higher quality tea does NOT justify the higher prices at that one particular location. Yes TenRen's as a whole does use higher quality tea leaves compared to other suppliers, however they supply themselves and use the exact same supplies as every other TenRen's tea shops. This should not justify one location charging us more for the same thing you get at other TenRen's.

tried this 2 months ago ... i thought the prices were fair considering the side dish option and the fresh fruit they use. Plus i would like to add that Ten Rens is the only place that you are able to find a nice green tea slush around that area...cause GFT doesnt have that and the surrounding commerce plaza....other than destinys which the prices are about even. =] so enjoy!

i love that place... nice trendy interior ....but ok for ppl of all ages (unlike the younger crowd pleasing Go For Tea, another fav)....I like their strawberry Pineapple Slush....tried their tea + meal combos....was good....but got really full toward the end cuz the whole meal took almost 2 hours!!! i think i got more tired of eating than full at the end haha...nice place...my most recent regular hangout place
