I had book an appointment to get my front/rear strut replace with monroe sensa-trac... are they any good?? They come with a lifetime warranty...
is for my ford focus... my strut/shocks can probably last for one more year, but i figure that i will replace them with lifetime strut anyways... so why not replace them a little earlier and ride more comfortably... any comment?
Total cost including labour and tax is $550cad... howz the price?? canadian tire equalivant will cost me $720cad!

CT usually only covers the part. labour is almost always extra. might wanna make sure what your warranty covers.

Sensa-Tracks are alright, not the best, but not bad either. Monroe Reflex are better but Monroe stopped making those for most cars now--I believe they are for trucks/SUVs only now :(
As myapple mentioned, lifetime warranties on things like brakes, shocks, etc. are pretty much always parts only--the labour to change them out is extra if replacement is ever required.
$550 including tax and labour is not bad, considering it's all four (?).

Becareful about 'lifetime warrantees' with Shocks. Ask exactly how that lifetime warranty works.
For Koni's or Tokico's, thier lifetime warranty requires you to purchase a new replacement shock from them and you have to send them them broken one. If they deem it to be a manufacturing defect, they will CREDIT you the cost of the shock. It's not a refund...a credit.

Well.... i dont need these monroe shocks anymore!!!
I manage to find out that Ford had a recall on there front springs, so now i get to replace my front springs for free! At the same time, since they are taking the suspension apart, I ask if I could get my front struts replace without playing for labour and the dealer agree!!
So in total, I had my front spring/strut replace for only $240cad tax in!! which is a major deal since I only pay for the two strut! They told me the rear shocks dont need replacement.... and the two strut are genuine ford part too, with lifetime warranty, which makes me even happier!
Ford told me I dont need a wheel alighnment, what do you think? should I get one anyways??? Also, is it a bad idea to have new set of spring/strut for the front and old stuff in the rear? I am safe???

Don't need an alignment? Sounds strange to me... What type of struts does the Focus use up front? If they're MacPherson Struts up front, I'm pretty sure alignment is mandatory upon replacement. However if it uses a different front-end setup, alignment may not be required.

anyone has them installed and how's the ride? I am thinking of getting a set (CT half price on the 2nd one).

Great, what perfect timing.
Do you need an alignment, not necessarily but I would demand that they check the alignment to be certain the camber is within limits. The fact that the spring and shock have been replaced can cause the camber to change quite a bit. Caster and toe should be unaffected.

New shocks will noticeably change the ride and feel of your car. It is the primary component in the suspension for the ride.
For those going on about CT and the labour charges on "lifetime" warranty, it is not CT that provides the warranty, it is Munroe, so of course you will have to pay the labour to replace them, Monroe will only provide the shock. Same with almost any of the "lifetime" warranty products from mufflers to brakes.

KYB (Kayaba) GR-2's are very good, I opted for Bilsteins on my car cos I got a deal on those but if I hadn't, I would've most likey went with KYB's.

Yeah GR-2s are comparable to Sensa-Tracs, but they are better in that they handle other suspension mods like lowering springs better. I've read about people having issues on Sensa-Tracs when lowered, but not people on KYBs.
GR-2s are certainly not comparable to most Bilsteins though, lol. However KYB does have other struts than the GR-2. I have KYB GR-2 struts and Gas-A-Just shocks on my other car and have nothing bad to say about them.
The only problem I think with KYB is where the heck do you find them in Canada? I had to order mine from the US back when I got them, and I still don't really hear too much about them over here.

Quick Struts are fully loaded drop in units c/w new spring, bellows, bearing mount and strut. They are kinda of pricey for what you get. Most cars don't need new springs.
