Has anyone tried putting the 3M Clear Protective Coating on the new car ? Does it worth the money ? If so, can anyone recommend a place which provides this service at reasonable price ?

Thanks

I had it done on my Santa Fe, I figure why not since I'm going to be driving the high way 80km each way every day. I paid $500ish for it, for the front hood, bumper and mirrors. I had it done at the Hyundai dealer here in Calgary. Not sure if its worth it since Ive only had the SUV for a week :) I do have a co worker with a new Bmw and he had the front, sides and back done for $800 and he got rear ended last week, (person rolled into him) only damage was a little scratch on the 3m coating, could have been worse with out it I guess.

Hope that helps

Winky, this intrigues me. I have seen the 3M product for cars, I have some for my BMW's headlights because the cost of replacing these things as a result of a rock chip would really be huge, but, I have never heard of wrapping the whole car. So the car is now encased in a saran wrap type of bag or enclosure? Does he wash and wax the plastic?
I was thinking of getting some for the front part of the hood but I saw some on another car and it looks like...well it looks like a chunk of plastic on the hood. The paint looks two tone, where the plastic is and where it is not. Maybe the colour has something to do with it but in my opinion, it looked mickey mouse. A bug deflector looks better and probably has the same effect.

Wife got it done on her G35x when she bought here in Calgary. It was $300 with lifetime replacement warranty from Infiniti. We got quoted around $500 at an aftermarket shop for the same thing.

She had the hood done, lower panel, side lowers and the backs of the mirrors done. So far 6 months and counting and its holding up pretty well.

I wish they had something for stone chips here..Calgary is ridiculous for stone chips.. car was less than 2 weeks old and we got 2 big stones....2 big cracks in the windshield now.

Anyone know how much a windshield is for a 2006 G35x???

I have it on my car - only on the front portion of the hood though since it is aluminum. I thought it was unecessary for the bumper because since it is non-metal, it won't rust and can easily be repainted time and time again if needed.
