My laptop hit by virus, can some one help?
Even I did clean Windows install ( use the System Recovery Disc),
than install Norton Anti-virus,
but once I connect to internet, Norton immeditly detect virus .(before I install any other program).Anyone have any idea how could this happen?
Everytime I connect to internet, it pop up warning window with different virus name,
tourysk.exe
w32.spybot.worm
xemtrp.exe
w32.pinfi
ehnuhad.exe

It could be spread by connecting to the internet and/or to other computers on the network. Try to close all connections and install OS and antivirus.
Here's a good program for removal of spyware/virus:

do you have a partition on your HDD with saved files perhaps?
and does the recovery dics do a complete windows format or just a repair?

Are you behind a firewall? If not, I suggest you get a router with a firewall. If you already have a router with a firewall, then shut down ALL your other computers in the house (assuming this is all happening to you at home). I suspect that your other systems are infected.

No partition on my hard drive.
It was not a "repair", it's "image recovery", guess that mean it format hard drive before it do the install

I really wonder was the hard drive been format before "Image recovery"?
If not, how can I format the hard drive myself, I am using win XP home.

download the lastest avast antivirus and set it to do a complete check up before boot.
it should catch some of those then if that works and you still want to reinstall windows. run a virus check on the img file you are trying to load.
in what directories are the viruses. in most cases i think its a network spread virus from another computer on it.
try avast its free to try for 1 month i think from www.100-downloads.com

you connected to the bare-naked net without either hardware or software firewall?!?!?!?! WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU???
speaking from experience, fresh installed xp pro os for a friend, the ethernet cable is plugged in during the install, few seconds after first boot into windows, got the msblaster worm, obviously the pc was connected without any firewall and the OS holes weren't patched

in some cases the recovery disc will not format the drive unless you select destructive recovery (wipes out everything)
Select one of the following procedures, depending on which recovery type you want to perform:
*
To perform a system recovery, click Next, and then click Yes
*
To perform a destructive recovery, click Advanced, (select Destructive Recovery) and then click Next.

Agree. According to an article on the web, an unprotected Windows system without hardware/software firewall of any kinds will only survive ~ 10-15 minutes before start infecting by virus/spyware.
One simple way is to add a wired/wireless router, even though there is only 1 machine on your 'network'.

This is what I am going to do,
Here are the step I will do........
1, do the system recovery
2, install norton
3, scan hard drive
4, install internet connect program
then update Norton online, see what will happen.
If still not work, I will try your method, thx.

what you can do is download SP2 and burn to disc/ save to flash drive ect ect with infected system.
then reinstall system recovery disc. add antivirus and then install SP2 from disc or flash drive then set firewall then connect to internet.

When the MSBlaster hit a while back, we (at work) had newly built systems get infected the very second the network cable was plugged into the corporate network.
A router is almost a requirement if you want to have a secure system at home.

AVG combined with windows defender still allowed trojans on my parent's pc. Very disappointed. I installed Active Virus Shield, did a scan, found several viruses. :cheesygri

A little extreme... I'vd had my PC unprotected for years and haven't encountered much problems... only issue I had is getting spyware a couple of times.. but hardly every 10-15 mins

some virus's write themselves into the Windows Recovery registry or so i've heard. Basically you just gotta wait for some anti-virus updates with Norton I guess or just reformat your whole computer.
