Hi all, in the market of buying a matrix for wifey...and recently went to my local dealer and here's the rates/info ive received.

2006 matrix base model b package (automatic trans) manual windows though
3.9% 60 month financ.
sticker price showed $22000 + tax.frieght, fuel surcharge
comes with toyota ESP (3years/60K KM warranty) 3yr roadside

at the end with working my numbers, it came down to $390/month IF I PUT DOWN $3K!!!!

WHat do you guys think if its a good deal? leasing for option as well....but was not interested

Only thing I'd recommend is atleast get power windows.

It's 2006 man!

Isn't that how much the XR would cost? I thought the Base + Package B is more like $18500 and Base + TRD package is ~$20000. Could be wrong as I am trying to remember the prices off the top of my head from last year. 3 year warranty and 3 year road side are standard anyways. I would never pay over $20000 + Freight/PDI + tax and still have to use my own power to roll down the window.

I costed one of these out for my girlfriend in August from Car Cost Canada.

2006 Matrix Base + 'B' Package automatic = $20,567.00 dealer invoice price

You should be able to get financing at 2.9% for 36 or 48 months. (At least thats what it says for me)

My GF ended up getting Nissan Versa 1.8 SL instead. You get a lot more bang for the buck and its quieter. I strongly reccomend checking it out before you buy.

Good luck!

That doesn't seem like a bad deal. I was looking at the 06 models(used) but they were still above our budget.

Best of luck, make sure you test drive other makes/models as there is alot of competition to the Matrix, as someone pointed out the Nissan Versa.

hey Guys, thanks for your valuable input! Yes indeed, the dealer was surely ripping me off...because after i did my numbers at home, the lease was costing me $29,000 if I were to buy it after 4 years......

and even financing for me was 3.9% so i knew it wasn't a deal at all.

I'm surley gonna check out the new VERSA ive heard lots of good things about it as well....it's like Nissan Murano's compact version...

My only Q is this: If it were you and wanted to buy a used car, would you buy it privately or would you buy it from a DEALER (because you know it's warranted-sometimes) ?

I'd buy it privately to save on taxes. I doubt that a 1 year old car will end up with a blown engine anytime soon... same goes for the transmission. Other parts will be cheaper than taxes I guess (well not all of them, but most). So, I'd buy a used car privately.

The Matrix is the Pontiac Vibe dressed up in a Toyota badge - it is one of the few Toyota's I would suggest to avoid. Never buy a car based on $$ per month - that is what the dealer wants you to do. Argue them down on purchase price then discuss financing terms separately so you see the whole picture.

Actually, it's the other way around... the Vibe has a Toyota powertrain ;)
