Hello, i am currently looking for a detailer or a bodyshop around the GTA (York Region if possible) that can help me fix a rock chip and a scratch that i have on my car. the rock chip is about 6mm by 6mm in size, and the scratch is about 4.5cm in length. The car is a 06' rav4, and i would like to get this done before winter hits. What type of cost am i looking at to fix this? and also which bodyshop/detailer would u suggest (with contact info plz so i can get an estimate)?

Sorry but you cant really fix it. Most likely it will need repainting it. Repainting a hood is usually from $300-500

i recommend u go back to ur toyota dealer to get it fixed since
a) its a new car ('06 RAV4)
b) the colour will more likely match, if u go to a third party one, its really hard to find exact colour match

The door on my 2001 Honda doesn't have a rubber door strip either and it has taken a few good hits in its time too. When you get this fixed you might want to get a rubber door strip.

You can so fix that with a good detailer.

Sand, fill with touch-up, wetsand, polish.

If you're looking for a meticulous perfectionist of a talented detailer who won't BS you, ask for Chris and tell him that I sent you. If he can't fix it, he will tell you so and offer you some alternatives. If he can fix it, you'll be happy with the result.

Dealer bodyshops aren't much different than any other bodyshop. There's nothing they have access to that would make the paint match any better than another good non-dealership bodyshop wouldn't have. At either the dealer or elsewhere paints all come from respective paint suppliers (DuPont, Sikkens, PPG, etc.) and are mixed/tinted using computer-based scanners to look at the existing colour on the car and to properly mix the paint for the best shade match. Still might not be optically perfect of course, but the point is provided good paint and equipment is used, colour match has little to do with whether it's a dealer bodyshop or not.
