Working at a Second Cup, I'm quite biased ;)

But if I ever did go to one, which is quite frequently ironically(Though I prefer a SC since I can get a discount), I enjoy the Vanilla latte.

Starbucks is premium coffee, and you're paying for the ambiance of being there. It's all about the starbucks 'experience.'

I swear, SB screwed it up for every other coffee shops out there with their versions of "macchiato"!!

A real macchiato is just espresso with a dollop of foam, which fits in those small espresso cups..

Ppl order a "caramel macchiato" at non SB cafes thinking they'll get a caramel latte macchiato (so with lots of steamed milk) but then if the barrista does it correctly it'll just be the REAL macchiato (a dollop of foam) with a shot of caramel, no steamed milk!!

Whenever I make that drink without explaining it to the customers, they always look at me funny like I made the drink wrong!

Heh, that and how a 'real' Cappucino is Espresso + foam, as well as the 'cup sizing naming scheme'.

star bucks is dirt. 90% of the ones ive been too are always way too busy, prices are way too high and most of the time the staff doesnt even know how to make your drink properly. i remember having a 30min wait after i paid for a frappachino. i think i just threw it on the floor and told them to mop it up then left. havnt been back since.

I'm new to the starbucks thing [since I'm using an SPC card at Second Cup] -- I didn't see anything about a shot of raspberry. Is that just with an extra bit of raspberry flavouring, and does it cost extra?

actually i live in whistler. its funny how a town of 10,000 residents that wants to have an authentic canadian village feel wont let tim hortons in, but has 5 star bucks and counting. to be honest i was on my lunch break and didnt plan on spending my entire lunch in line at starbucks after they had taken my money. if it takes them 30min to make a coffee that shouldnt take more then 2 there wasting there time and should be doing something better with it. aka mopping the floor. or better yet they should say theres a 30min wait before they take your money. i recently (temporarily) moved back to cobourg and had tim hortons for the first time in 2 years, there coffee is so much better then sb's and costs half as much.

i personally goto second cup, its canadian and they treat there customers like canadians. not arrogant americans and make you wait forever. also all the american tourists goto sbs because they dont know any better. i work hard for my money and i expect places i spend my money at to work just as hard. ive had to put up with alot of crap at my jobs why shouldnt they?

Sorry to be the one to tell u, but the Tim Hortons we love so much is actually American.....it's just called something else in the US.....it's just always been marketed towards the hockey life, fans, family, culture....therefore, connecting hockey and coffee...etc etc....but most ppl do think Tim Hortons is Canadian.....really interesting story behind how it all started and the history of the company....and who Tim Horton is

Tim Horton was Canadian, Ron Joyce was Canadian, the entire concept is Canadian since 1964, and head office is in Oakville ...so I would argue is " as canadian " as anything can be.

However, you're correct, the ownership is American - Wendy's bought 80% of it in '96. But then, so is the ownership ( american ) of the Montreal Canadians. :)

btw -Tim's plans to have 4,000 stores in canada and about 500 in the US within 2 years.

Try green tea misto, it's not on the menu but my friend orders it.

It's basically steamed soy milk with a green tea bag. It should much less sweeter. My friend adds like the equivalent of 3 tablespoons of honey to it.

That doesn't make sense. While Starbucks is an American company, they still have all Canadians working there so how or why would Canadians treat other Canadians like Americans?

Anyways, making a new batch of coffee (coffee grinds + water, not espresso and milk which would be a latte) at Starbucks takes five minutes (you can have it sooner but then it's mostly plain water).

Though first time i tried green tea latte was at second cup and then i got one at starbux. Yeah definitely hard to justify $5 for a drink that's non alcoholic. Which is why I don't drink bbt anymore other than to go chill
