I am wondering if you guys think it is worth to buy those "4 Way protection package". Basically, it is the rust, leather, paint, etc protection package for the new car offered by the dealer. The price range from $1000 to 1800 !
I know some aftermarket rust proof job can cost as low as a couple hundred bucks. Why would it be so much different ?

It's 'cause the dealer is ripping you off, LOL. Many people would recommend against getting this stuff as it doesn't do that much and costs extra money. The rustproofing (which is undercoating 99% of the time with dealer-packages) is good, but makes for an unsightly underhood appearance for the life of the car :( Personally I'd rather Krowning it once a year instead, but both work fairly well for rust proofing.
Paint protection is fairly useless as well, unless you're too lazy to wax your car. It only lasts for 2 years or so as well, so after that you're going to have to wax your car anyway ;)
Leather protection I'm not really sure how well that works but the carpet/fabric protection is usually pretty good. Only warrantied for 2-3 years usually but it works for far longer, in my experience anyway.
The other thing you probably don't know is the whole "4 way package" costs the dealer less than $300. They make pretty big profit on that nonsense--hence the usual hard-sell of the packages. They usually guilt you into getting it telling you your car will last much longer and look better, etc. Or, even if you say you only want the car for a couple years, they'll BS you about how it does wonders for resale (it doesn't).
So what you have to do is keep refusing it even if you want it or some of the parts of the package (because they are going to keep trying to sell you on it) and then they will lower the price. They'll go from like $1600 to less than $600 before you know it, in many cases. Often times you can get the whole package for the regular price of just one of the elements of it, because they are still making money.
