Just received the coupon in my mail, just like in the past, join a gold membership, reg. at $55 and receive a $25GC, so works out to be only $30 for one year membership.

Note: for new members only, also doesn't mention reproduction (photocopy) of coupon not allowed.

I'll post the scan later, or if someone has time, by all means..

EDIT: Sorry about long wait, just got back home...

Here's the coupon scan (http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/6338/dsc01504xa8.jpg)

From what I've heard on this forum, costco's return policy is so good you don't need an extended warranty that much.

Everytime they come up with a deal like this I actually get tempted, but so far have resisted.

I don't really get the appeal of Costco since there is limited brand selection, you usually have to buy way too much of an item, and if you wait for sales elsewhere and check flyers/RFD, you can almost always beat their prices. As others mentioned, the lines, limited payment options and the receipt checkers are additional downsides.

On the plus side...love them freebie samples.

Bottom line...it's against my religion to pay to shop.....IOW: I refuse to join a store that would have me as a member.

Costco is good if there is something you really need there. Whenever I buy a membership, I save the cost of it on my first purchase (e.g., air conditioner).

Then I'll go a few more times when I feel like buying a bunch of something I actually use, and save a few more dollars.

People may moan about the lineups, but they always look longer than they actually are.

I've never been at a department store or grocery store where they have a person timing and measuring each line and open up more registers when the lineups get too long or take too long. They do this at Costco even the few times I go there I hate arriving at the lineup but I like that it never takes too long going through.

but just think about the rewards, I already took few of my friends to costco, thats the reward for having membership, and although I don't buy any electronics from them, they have very good prices on food related stuff, and considering I live in a familly of four its a good thing, ya $55 is bit much, but it saves me lot of time and I can always borrow camera when I go for once a year trip....

Higher prices? Lineups can be long, but i've rarely had to stand longer than 10mins... but much equivalent to any other store.

As for the receipt nazis, wtf? All they do is take 10sec to look over your receipt.

Costco usually has very good fresh meat from local sources when possible. Also, they treat their staff well, paying more than Wal-Mart etc. Just buying Gillette razor blades (Mach3/Fusion) there for a year will recoup your membership costs with this deal.

You can also get a rebate by having a costco exec membership and extended warranty from your CC, if you read the fine print is usually double the Manufacturer's warranty, up to one year! You still need to have your receipt, as your statement tells them where you purchased, but not what. So, you get a total of 2 years... At Costco, you get 3 years automatically, and it doesn't even have to wear out or break, it is a satisfaction guarantee... you can take it back if you are no longer satisfied! My brother brought back a DVD player, because it skipped when playing his BURNED dvd's and that is what they told him, 2 years and 8 months after he bought it. He didn't even have his receipt, they looked it up!

Things like that bother me when I have to pay a membership fee for crappier than normal prices and service.

We just bought Camcorders from there. The price for the current model year, was $50 cheaper than FS's clearance price on last years model of the same camera. Originally, we had purchased them at FS, and paid an extra $180 for extended warranty for 3 more years. Returned that, bought it at Costco, get 3 years automatically...

As for others who think a membership fee is ridiculous, $4.59 a month, doesn't really bother me. That is less than most CC monthly fees, or interest (if you want to double your warranty that way) The lines are actually shorter than Walmart's and when they are long, as another poster said, you are through in no time, why... Cuz, they bag your stuff for you, they ring it through, their prices always ring through correctly, there is no need to have an employee search the shelves, for the right price, as it came up wrong. They are probably the most effecient Customer Service people. In fact they boast it, look behind the registers, there is a sign there that shows how many people they are ringing through in an hour, and shows average wait time. All stores do this, but Costco doesn't hide the fact that they do.

For the OP, thanks for the deal, too bad it is for new people only. The bashers here could actually benefit from a deal like this and only spend $30.

Remember that every costco membership comes with a 100% money back guarantee. Keep track of what you save by shopping there, if you don't save more than $50/yr, get your money back..simple as that.

I think the $4.59/month is worth the:

3. AAA Beef as opposed to AA or better at most grocery stores
4. Cheapest propane refill ($9.99 vs. >$15)
5. Cheapest drug dispensing fee ($4.17 vs >$6-$9)
6. Cheap Oil changes ($22 vs $25)
7. Best price on Best Seller books
8. Operates ethically unlike many other big box stores (Very good employee wages and benefits)

family of 5 here.

cheap essentials pays for membership and then some. (toothpaste, deodarant, contact lense fluid, milk, bread, etc etc)

line appear big because the carts are HUGE and the lanes are wide. i never have had to wait in line longer than i do at any other retail/big box outlet.

receipt nazis are kinda weird. don't make sence to me. but maybe they need em in the USA, and just figured use the same system up here.

good bakery

if you don't have a membership, you'll never see the real savings. got a nice fireplace screen, some leather managers chairs, portable heater for MUCH less than you can find anywhere else (wallmart was not even close) and the quality is always up there. they don't seem to stock many bad products. at wallmart, you never know, you could be buying complete junk.

for computer related, their prices are high, and 90%+ of the threads here on RFD are for computer related stuff, so thats probably why people here have a bad opinion of Costco. but every once in a while, they surprise you (remember that dell 24" widescreen with included Micrsoft wireless desktop ;)

return policy is amazing. so even if you do buy something and your not happy with it for whatever reason a year down the road, just take it back.

its not purely the money with costco, its fair prices (besides computer-related ok), convience, 1 stop, and satisfaction guarenteed or your money back and not for a measly 30 days like most places ;). for a small yearly fee, well worth it.

slam em if you like, but they must be doin something right if all these people still shop there. either that, or everyone is dumb, and you are the smartest person in the world  right

As much as I hate going to Costco and wrestling through crowds in the parking lot AND in the store (weekends are nasty), Costco actually has pretty good prices overall. Saved some money getting a decent mattress there last year. Meats, groceries, frozen foods, baked goods, drinks and toilet paper have always been in my cart at Costco. Save's money in the long run.

Heck, I had a car battery that was bought at Costco that died in a car that didn't move for over a year, they gave me full credit with no receipt! Just pulled the info from my account! I was like, wow!

With that said, my membership just expired at the end of August. Once I get my hands on the coupon, I'm gonna go renew!

"vendor-sponsored rebates" are deducted after tax. CT does the same thing. Remember Costco is a warehouse, not RETAIL.

All other stores do this... If it is a coupon, next time just wait and see when they apply the coupon, after they subtotal. So, a $10 item, comes to $11.40, here in Ontario, and then they take off the coupon for say $1, and the total is now $10.40, not $10.26...
I've seen this at Walmart, Canadian Tire, and Zellers. All retail!

If it is an instant rebate, then it comes off when it is rung in, at least at Costco it does, if you ever watch when there is an instant rebate, not one of the coupon deals, you will notice that the deduction is before tax.

1. - ate many a meal there before heading home after school when I was commuting... The samples were not slivers and I have no idea how belgiangenius would know, since he doesn't go there...
4. - Some places are over $17 plus tax now
5. - Shoppers is over $10! So, yeah, great pharmacy!
7. - Even on Mags too... Walmart save you 10% on books, Costco, goes even further, sometimes close to 1/2 price
9. - see no. 1 above... That is such a great deal, I get it everytime I go still.
10. - Free service agreement!

8. Ethically? You mean like accusing all exiting customers of stealing by checking the receipts?
Read it, he said treatment of employees and wages, unlike Walmart for instance... And do you really think that the greeter at Walmart is just handing out carts and saying hello? He/she is also watching the customers leaving... And why do you think they put stickers on returns as customers come in the store? So, that you can't go to the shelf and take an item then return it with a receipt you already have. How is that for assuming that all customers are crooked... All stores do it, it is called Loss Prevention. That's why there are video cameras at entrances to stores and banks, and that's why there are the "tag alarm" systems. Same concept, different way of doing it. Stores assume the customer is guilty, they don't know which one for sure, but someone is. That is why they have secret security who look like shoppers and video cameras, and alarm systems!

The arguments against Costco are fairly weak. Yes paying a membership sucks but you just have to see if there are enough benefits for you personally. Costco isn't for everyone.

About the receipt checkers, yes they are to deter theft, but main that is not the case. User error is a much bigger concern and checking the receipts isn't catching people shoving merchandise down their pants. There are lots of ways the cashier can screw up, particularly if there are two people handling your order (cashier and packer). And it goes both ways, there were always times when someone would get to the door and something had accidentally been scanned twice. Or the packer accidentally put the last couple items in the next member's cart. Or something small got left on the counter. When you're processing 50+ members per hour through your cash, [censored] happens.

It's also really easy if someone has a pile of, say 10 cases of pop to only put through 9 particularly if the cashier leaves them in the cart or on the flatbed.

Or stuff gets left underneath the cart and not scanned or left in the seat.

The average sticker price of an item at Costco is much higher than say a grocery store. So if an employee stops even one or two $50 or $100 items from walking out the door unpaid per hour, that's a huge savings to the store. Yeah, there's some theft deterence there but it's primarily a doublecheck that the cashiers aren't screwing up.

It's also a big deterance to employee theft. Anybody in retail will tell you this is a HUGE issue. ie: My buddy/coworker comes through my cash and I only charge him for half the items he's "buying".

Costco does treat their employees VERY well. People who work for Costco usually love it and never quit.

szw
Sep 15th, 2006, 05:04 PM
Costco generally does not stock items that it cannot sell at the best price. But there is usually a tradeoff because for Costco quality sometimes > price. This is because Costco wants to be known as a store with high quality items, not just cheap bulk stuff. Its not sams club. The average costco member makes a lot more money than the average sams club member.

I just checked Sam's Club website, they offered same return policy as Costco,
All Laptops/Computer 6 months( Dell just 30 days). They charge $40 for membership fee.

So why everybody go for Costco? Maybe because Costco have more stores in Canada :) Sam's Club just have 6 stores, all in East.

Personally I could give a crap less what the employees make but Costco has great deals. As for the receipt nazi you can just keep moving don't even bother waiting in line to get out and show your receipt. They'll follow you if it's important. I do it every time.

I also can not understand why they don't put more cashiers in there.

they got a system that works well now

they have someone pre-scanning ppl's buggies that are in line
so when u get to the cashier, they just scan ur membership card and the computer will automatically input all the items pre-scanned

speeds everything up

there are some potential problems but if u are keen on checking ur receipt (good practice) after the purchase then its fine
and usually Costco staff briefly check ur buggy and receipt when leaving costco too

also another reason why i dont go to sams club is like u said, none here in BC

I get my membership refunded every year....
Same here. I was so happy to get a refund that is more than cover my executive membership. Also, they gave me cash for the refund, then I paid for my membership with credit card to get more airmiles.

I really don't understand what some of those people whining about. I don't really pay for my executive membership and I use Amex to pay for my purchases.

What good is a scan of the coupon, it's still not the original. If you really want the deal, just go to the membership counter and tell them that you heard about the deal.. Do they really care, it's still a sale of a membership. Costco is pretty tight when it comes to customer service.

If you get an executive membership you get 2% back on all your purchases. So if you purchase enough goods it covers your membership at the end of the year. This is good if you make any big ticket items or let your friends use your membership to buy any big ticket items.

The shady way to do it is just to go back to the return counter and ask them to return your membership. I doubt they'd let you do it more than one or twice though, but I dont know.

Just got back from Costco Markham and got shot down.

Someone mentioned the receipt nazi's at Costco but the only ones that really bother me are the people at the membership desk. I've been a member in the past with zero complaints and only left because I have been getting a complementary Sam's membership. Costco is a much more convenient location for me, however, so I've been contemplating going back without any urgency.

A couple of months ago I went in there all ready to sign up because my roomate (tenant) was willing to split the cost as long as he got the spouse card. Sam's would do it no problem and I have heard of others doing it at costco so I figured that it was a done deal. I was dead wrong.... the membership nazi would not budge on the issue. We left as a matter of principle. Probably could have convinced them if we acted gay (which he actually is) but why the hell should I?

Today, I wasn't totally shocked to get shot down although I do not understand why they are so comfortable in turning customers away. Right off the bat the guy tried upselling my wife the executive membership (which sounds great at first but only pays rebate when its renewal time) and when we pulled out the coupon he didn't even want to read it. The manager was right there and didn't want to discuss it with us either. My story of us not wanting to drive all across town to get the original from a friend fell on deaf ears. So again, I walked away all pissed off.

I strongly disagree with the reasons people have given for hating Costco but at this point I can't justify spending money there.

The executive membership costs more than the regular membership though. Not sure how much. Also, you can use their American Express to get some cashback also (3%? i'm not sure I don't have it).

So its good if you spend a lot there regularly (big family or business), or if you need to make one big ticket item like a TV or something.

I do believe you can go for the executive membership, and if at the end of the year you don't get enough cashback to cover the cost of the upgrade, they will refund the upgrade for you.

I went to Burnaby Costco 2 months ago without membership card, I just go to the reception ask for a visit card, then they let me in and no one pursuade me to get a membershipcard  .After about a week they sent me a $10 coupon by mail same as the $25 coupon you guys got.

Finally I signed in Absortford Airshow with a $25 gift card and another $10 gift card for sign a American Express. :)

People in Vancouver can got to Richmond Night Market. Costco have a booth in there and they will give you $25 gift card as well.

Costco have more than 45 million membership, so that's equals they can get 2 billion every year for membership fee:!: That's why they don't care Return.

Remember that every costco membership comes with a 100% money back guarantee. Keep track of what you save by shopping there, if you don't save more than $50/yr, get your money back..simple as that.

I think the $4.59/month is worth the:

1. Free samples
2. Exclusive products
3. AAA Beef as opposed to AA or better at most grocery stores
4. Cheapest propane refill ($9.99 vs. >$15)
5. Cheapest drug dispensing fee ($4.17 vs >$6-$9)
6. Cheap Oil changes ($22 vs $25)
7. Best price on Best Seller books
8. Operates ethically unlike many other big box stores (Very good employee wages and benefits)

10. Best return policy of any retailer... 6 months on Computers and Laptops!

Just my 2 Cents...

You can say what you want, but the reality is:

1. Food products are cheap, but you have to buy huge bulk sizes that you don't want.

2. For most large purchase items like appliances, they only sell junk brands like Danby.

3. They are a zoo and the lineup ARE long.

4. There are relatively few stores, so they are inconveniently located for many people.

5. They may beat everyday prices of other stores in some cases, but they don't beat sale prices of other stores. And the fee kills a lot of the savings anyway.

Over the years Costco has gone down hill badly. I used to shop at Price Club and pay the 5% bonus rarther than the fee. But since Price Club and Costco merged, their stuff has become junk. About 10 years ago, they replaced a lot of their regular merchandize with food that I don't buy because I don't need bluk quantitites. I might still shop there occassionally without the membership fee. But I would never pay a fee to shop there.

To those who think its not worth the membership, i say to you, WHO CARES WHAT YOU THINK. Go threadcrap somwhere else and leave us costco members to our "cold deal".

It's not like you have to explain to RFD members, whom by nature are deal savvy to begin with, what is and isn't a good deal. Perhaps we buy more of the big savings items that you would. Is that so horrible?? Should we forgo our savings because you opinion on the membership its value???

As a side note, since the costco membership is usually worth the grocery's alone, and most members buy groceries there, I ask, which grocery stores have a notably shorter line that Costco, not to mention the quality and prices of their food... hmmmm??????

Well, this is Red Flag Deals....not Red Flag Ripoffs. Costco is always a RIP.

Was there yesterday for one of my quarterly visits to buy the 3 items I buy there and saw the Tide on sale. 90 use container for $20.99 regularly. If you figure Shoppers always has the 25 use buckets for $4.99, Costco is, once again, more expensive. Now the sale was -$4, so that made it about $17, which is about $0.25 less per 25 use bucket than the regular Shoppers sale (woopteedoo), but then figure they're charging you that fraudulent hunk of tax on the pre-discount price, and your savings are pretty much gone, and you still have to buy the huge 20lb bucket, wait in line for 20 minutes, and then prove to the receipt nazis you didn't steal it. WTF?

IMHO, considering the massive membership price, the regular price on that Tide should be $14.99 and they should offer to perform erotic favours for you on the way out.

don't care about person in china, and i doubt stooples makes the chair in NA. perhaps assembed here, but most assembly needs to be done by buyer anyways. and no frills and price chopper is narsty. cheap crappy brands that taste bad and old. and their sale items are good, as with any other grocery store, but regular items are average priced. maybe a little cheaper. but costco's prices when worked out to the g or ml are usually better. Now Dominion, they are pretty high priced. don't like many of the house brands at those places much either.

Read that article about costco, the VP summed it up perfectly. Sams club may have cheaper ketchup than Costco, but its Hunts VS Heinz. (paraphrasing). Costo isn't the cheapest, but it is the cheapest that offers higher quality goods who caters to upscale customers/small businesses. Obviously the fellow has too much time thus is in search of sparring partners or has a personal vendetta against Costco that's too embarrased to post. Comeon folks, a typical shopper would not be obsessed with "receipt nazis" unless they got caught. My kid looks forward to some of the artistic drawings left by the "Nazi" highlighter. I think that costco is also inefficient unless you have large families. The large quantities you have to purchase either encourage consumpiton or they go bad or you have to have a mansion to put everything away and some eventually goes bad. I would think that RCSS or something like that is a better bet. Costco is one of those places that you feel compelled to buy somehting so that you justify your membership.

1) not necessarly true, true to a degree, you sound like my mom, in most cases you can 'freeze' the extra portions or in the case of stuff like cereal, coffee, pop, water, even meats you get a AMAZING amount for a low price... Ie something that I buy is that premade salad, its like $2.50 for a HUGE bag, I mean it usually goes bad before I eat 50% of it but the fact is and ya I do waste it, if I buy a bag 1/4 the size anywhere else its $4+ ... same goes for meats, and I dont know who was saying that they are expensive on meat, but I find they are the cheapest and best place for it, meat is CUT extremly well I hate THIN slices of STEAK they cut em thick and usually 4 huge top sirloin are around $10-12 bucks, these can be broken down to 8 steaks easily and if you compare that to any supermarket its a STEAL ...

2) very, very, very vague description... they have MANY product lines, I'm not hot on DANBY either, but like any place they sell good stuff and bad stuff, but for the benefit of the doubt they have the best warranty policy... at least you dont end up getting stuck with that DANBY you bought and hate, take it back... We have bought many large purchases from TV's to Recievers, tires, kitchen stuff (mixmaster)...

3) If you go during busy times, it can be, but ever been in a wal-mart or any store during its 'busy' times? (IKEA?) .. its the same. and they do a very good job at getting people in and out ... Generally most I wait is around 5 minutes, during dead times there isn't much of a lineup, and during very busy times they 'pre-scan' a lot of orders and it saves very much time ....

4) No comment, but the savings is worth it.

5) To me Time = Money, and Gas = Money aswell, If I can save a buck by going somewhere else and having to waste a hour of my time it isn't worth it ... you are correct by saying that they 'dont always have the best price' this especially being true with computer/electronic stuff ... but for the people that like me like to buy most of my stuff in bulk (and again, I'll argue the fact that a lot of stuff at costco is really just 'family sized' rather than normal, cause rather than buying say a 2l of milk you have to buy a 4l of milk, which isn't that much more, and for say OJ you have to buy two 2.8L jugs rather than one, which again, I'm going to drink it so its worth it) ... Same goes for toothpaste, why buy 1 pack at a time when you know you are going to use it and 4 packs will last you much longer, and save time and hastle of having to go to the store to buy it again, THIS is what I dont understand ... when I can stock up and not have to bother ... plus if you really do it well, you will buy the stuff you need when it goes on sale at costco, then you are pretty much guaranteed to get the lowest price ... you make it sound like the $50 fee is really hurting you a lot, if you add up what it saves from pharmacy, to tires, to meat, to even potted flowers and there great seasonal stuff, you will save it in a heartbeat!

Good luck...

First, sorry about the "scan" as I could only do it quick enough with a camera...

For those who got denied by Costco staff, you can try contacting their customer service like people did last year, they eventually accepted photocopies of the coupon.

Check here (http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=227180&page=6&pp=15&highlight=costco+%2425+membership) for last year's discussion, post #77... I believe too many people asked for the mail-out and at the end Costco ran out of coupons, and began accepting photocopies..

Good luck!

Well, people who don't have a membership just don't realize what type of service/warrenty/refund policy they're paying for.

Bought a pillar fan many (and I mean many) years ago. One day it just stopped working. Brought it back to refund (and yes I knew I could do that after so many years) and found out that they had a newer model of the fan I was returning.

No questions asked at the counter, told them it was broken, showed my original receipt (keep all receipts from costco purchases), got the full refund.

Newer model was even cheaper than when I bought mine. Picked up a new one and paid, leaving with a brand new fan along with roughly $8 from the price difference. When this fan dies in the future, back to Costco I go!

Now tell me where else you can do that?

And I agree with people stating that if you don't think it's a deal, then go threadcrap somewhere else, because for everyone who does get annual memberships and save money from buying bulk from costco because of various reasons ranging from large families to reselling, this is a HOT deal.

Costco bets most of people will not do as you did :)

Plus if you pay $50 10 years ago, considering $50 10 years interest and everything, they already got another $50 back. :)

But for me the amount of money I save every year because I shop at costco way surpasses the cost of the $50 membership I pay.

As I said before, if you don't think this is a hot deal, then go somewhere else. If you can't get costco to work with your lifestyle, doesn't mean others can't. Stop trying to tell those who can get it to work it's not a deal as clearly it's something you don't understand.

I keep all of my receipts too, but you don't even have to do that... Makes it easier I guess... My brother had to return an item, didn't have the receipt, so they looked up his account, and there was the purchase from over 2 years ago.

I have had a membership for awhile now. Years. I'm going to cancel this month. Hardly ever use it. Don't really need 2 gallons of Ketchup as I have no kids.
I think this is where potential members get confused, because you don't have to buy ketchup, pickles, mustard etc in bulk. You can if you choose to. You don't have to. You can buy a 1 litre jar of peanut butter, for the same price as 500 ml at a retail store. You can buy individual salad dressings, ketchup, relish, olives, spices, etc... It is not as bad as the days of "PACE" where you could only buy the 5 gallon pail of no name laundry detergent. There is some serious money to be saved on lots of everyday items. I save lots of Wiper Blades, winter and summer, kitchen appliances, clothing (an Ocean Pacific Swimsuit for $16 instead of $30 at the retail stores) and books.

I'm always too lazy to take out my card when I enter, I ususally just say I'm meeting my wife/daughter/friend whatever when I'm walking in. You can also ask them for a day pass that lets you enter but not purchase anything. Its really weird they wouldn't let you in. Must be a bitchy employee that day. 1) Just because they have this deal all the time doesn't make it cold. CanadianTire has sales on the same items different weeks, does it make those sales cold deals? What if someone missed the deal the first time around?

2) I never said Costco was a perfect store. Not sure where you got that from, and it's not even on topic.

3) I'm not shouting. Someone is posting a deal here and you guys tend to rant about Costco being a rip off. You guys are the ones who should keep to yourself and stop shouting. If you don't like Costco, why are you even posting in this thread??

I'm not a Costco fanatic or anything, just trying to get this thread back on topic. Someone is posting a deal for those who care. If you have nothing better else to say other than "Costco is a ripoff" which completely has no relavence to this thread, just go away.

Hey GYR8!

I live beside the new downtown location - when are they going to open?

I have heard that they will have small quantities to appeal to the downtown crowd - is it true? And are they planning any sign up promotions....??

Hi there,

The projected opening will be in November. I can't really say much more than that ;) While no one has said "Don't say when it is opening", I do want to be on my best behaviour going into this new building :cheesygri

As far as small quantities go, I haven't heard anything about that from anyone (and believe me, I have been asking all sorts of questions!). I think that this location will carry the *same* stuff as the other stores, as each item is ordered for the entire chain. I just can't see *one* location getting different sizes to "appeal to the downtown crowd". Costco is all about LOTS of each (food) item!

As far as promos go, they did have an ad in the paper on Saturday for a "pre-opening" sign-up $10 Cash card promo. I think you are supposed to go to the temporary office at the Plaza of Nations for this ;)

Of course. But I was thinking more in the lines of signing up over the phone, and then picking up the actual cards in store where they would take your picture as well. :)

Thanks for the clarification though, would you know how long this promotion is going for?

not sure how long its on for. who cares. just call them up right now and get it

i thought costco is going to that "mini-costco" route to adapt to special locations like north vancouver and downtown
but of course you would know more than i do
i think the stuff they carry will be the same as other costco but selection may be a bit limited since location wont be as big
for north vancouver one anyways

Bottom line...it's against my religion to pay to shop

I guess you must not shop very much, since almost every store in existence make you pay for things you want to buy.

You have to pay for membership and wait in line to pay.

Imagine having to wait in line to pay. Wow, I guess all other stores have a 1:1 cashier/customer ratio.

Bottom line is that if you don't like Costco, why waste your time and ours by even posting in here? Go harrass a Mac thread :).

I just called them up today and at first the CSR told me they would mail the material out to me as well, but when she came back after putting me on hold for a few minutes, they told me that they don't have the coupons to mail out. Maybe you need to call them again to sign up instead. I actually signed up with them over the phone today, but am still waiting for them to call me back to verify that the application went through.

Just tell them you don't have the coupon but give them the awareness code, in which case they can process your application over the phone. The code is 50950, from the picture that the OP posted. :)

All you need to do to get the deal is call their customer service number and give them the Awareness code from the scan by the OP. They will take your credit card number and mail you the cash card and membership cards. I called in on Tuesday a few weeks ago and got mine on Friday of the same week. :)

And the spouse card only requires the person to be living at the same address. Actually, when I ordered mine, they just asked if the person is at the same address. No ID required. Not over the phone anyways. ::D

well.. am waiting for the viewsonic 37" TV to arrive, and this thread piqued my interest. Am no where near a costco... Ok one in Kingston.. am in trenton..so anywho... was checking out the costco.ca site...

Just bought a 1/4 HP sump pump from crappy tire, $99.99... seems costco.ca has the 1/3 HP Pump for $88.99 (MORE POWERFUL) Free shipping, pay 5% extra premium ($4.45)for not being a member (plus get to use visa/MC/AMEX).. total taxes in $106.53, compared to $113.99 @ crappy tire for the lower powered model.Their similiar pump is $142.99 taxes in, so I saved $36.46 PLUS have the wonderful Costco warranty and with Sump pumps!!!!!!!!!!!!..... this will be a Key factor in the purchase.

As i get home late and keep missing their customer service closing, am going to try and call tomorrow and sign-up for the gift card promo... (just tack it onto the order, I'm hoping) Either way I saved $7.00, but got a better pump, or I saved $36.50, or I get a membership with the $25 gift card so it's free and will be able to get the much awaited Viewsonic 37" for a steal.

I didn't have to wait in line, no one looked at my purchases and suspected me of being a thief... wonder if they will deliver free samples.. hehehehehe

I dunno pretty satisfied so far, and I'm not even a member..

THAT WAS EASY ..... LOL

Called again and talked to someone else. He seems more experience and assured me I can use printed copy.

So i went to Costco. They took $25 right away from my membership cost. I signed up for their membership auto-renew and got a set of gadget (tire gauge, pen and torch light) in a sleek case. I almost wanted to buy a tire gauge and now I got it free!

Paid $33 something after taxes. Awesome deal!

seems like this DEAL is getting better and better.. I'm sure I can sweet talk my way into the $25 gift card now that I have ordered online...I mean c'mon I ordered something without a membership , you have an offer for a $25 gift card.. sign me up with the gift card, I'll forego the $5.00 mark up for an item I saved $36.00 on... will you send me the gadgets too LOL

Lol - membership for $33 isn't bad, too bad I live in an apartment. Every time I go to Costco I have bulk food sitting on the floor, and dump out half my fridge freezer to make room.

800 463 3783 - Called them today (three times). Twice they said I had to go instore to get a membership. Third time I called I pressed 0 all the way through and asked the agent straight out if could buy a Costco membership over the phone.. the lady confirmed I could!' I started to give my info and then told her I had a promotion code... gave the number and she asked me what it was for. I said $25 cash card. She signed me up with no problem. I should have my paperwork (and giftcard) in 7-10 days.

Previously, I tried to go instore with the coupon and they wouldn't give me the deal with the scan. (Said it HAD to be the original).

Thanks for the deal guys.

Well., I went into the store on Merivale, and picked one up.

Dunno if my Pilipino skillz are tight enough, or if my kid(s) are just too adorable, but we got the $25 no questions :D. God Damned did they ever try to upsell the Executive and the AMEX.

I fought the fight, and came out with only the Gold Membership and no AMEX...although I think I may pick-it-up for emergencies (hey., no-fee is good). I'd rather becaught in an emergency paying with CC than from DEbit. I plan on pre-buying ALL my CashCards online using my other higher interest cash-back CC for Costco from now on.

oh, I love the leather jackets they have seasonally...MAY (after 3 years of passing on them) pick one up this year.
