a friend of mine has 2 court dates set in october to fight a couple of speeding tickets she got. problem is she is about to start a new job and can't ask for time off in the first week to go to these court dates. can she go and ask to have the dates changed saying she is starting a new job and as a result cannot get the time off to make the original dates she had set.

i am assuming you have to give them a reason why you want the dates changed, not sure if they will change it beacuse of this. she basically wants to push the court dates out for at least another 3 months till she completes the probationary period in her new job.

she will need to take to seperate times off to take care of this as the tickets are from 2 different places, and 2 different courts involved

Have her tell them she is out of town, they will change the date. As far as I know this is the only valid excuse.

Once I went because I had a final on my court date and talked to the guy at the counter who looked also to be quite young. He said uhhh, we can't really change the date for that, but if you were out of town we can. So I said, uhh, okay, I'm out of town? And he's like okay cool I'll change the date.

Well she managed to get one of them changed, they asked her why she told them about the new job and they are okay with it, they pushed the court date out to March.

So it looks like that might be an accpetable reason to them, or maybe it depends on the person you get.

Another question, since she had the date changed she is hoping the added bonus mught be that the cop is not available that day and won't show up. Has anyone had theat happen to them and if so what is the process to get the ticket thrown out if the cop does not show up. Does she have to say anything to the prosecutor the judge not sure what she has to do from there.

The available dates are usually the ones where the cop is scheduled to show up.
