View Full Version : Possibly FREE (after mail-in-rebate) Nokia 3220iM from Rogers.com

So Rogers.com currently has the 3220iM for $69.99 (here (https://www.shoprogers.com/store/wireless/products/phones/products_details.asp?shopperID=36778U34FBQ58HE27FQ E98E2AP3T2Q4A&PRODUCTID=3220IRM&summary=1))

Also on Rogers.com is the $70 mail in rebate coupon for this phone that does not exlude purchases from shoprogers.com. I haven't tried, but it may be possible to use this rebate form to get the phone for free (plus tax). I can't really see any reason why this would be denied, but if you've already bought one of these phones from shoprogers.com recently, send in the rebate, you've got nothing to lose (except the stamp ;) )

Rebate form: (PDF) http://downloads.rogers.com/wireless/forms/paygo_mm_rebate_coupon_05-2006_en.pdf

-EDIT- You can also use this rebate to get $70 off other PAYG phones bought between August 1st 2006 and October 31st 2006, as the rebate form says:

Activate service with Rogers™ Wireless Pay As You Go or upgrade your current Pay As You Go phone with the Nokia 6010M, Nokia 3220iM, Motorola V186M, Motorola V190, MotorolaV551M or Motorola V360M and receive a $70 rebate.

Beside the price reads "*After $70 mail in rebate and $10 online credit! Only when you buy online!"

So it looks like the purchase price is $150?

Yeah.. the site's kinda messed up. A friend bought one of these about two weeks ago and was billed $70+tax to his CC, but because they won't process the MIR until 30 days after the PAYG account activation date I don't know for sure if the MIR works with this or not.

I ended up buying from the Source for $136.79 w/tax -70Mail in Rebate and $20 activation credit. Which is cheaper than the rogers.com deal.

Sorry, my mistake. I've corrected the original rebate form link, which should've been this address: http://downloads.rogers.com/wireless/forms/paygo_mm_rebate_coupon_05-2006_en.pdf

How is it cheaper? I'm missing something here.

I think what op means that
if the mail in rebate is processed, then the phone is $0
then it's a hot deal

Wow, if that goes through properly...and it should...very hot. Thanks OP.

This phone fell apart on me a couple of months ago. I don't know what happened, but it did. So I'm thinking of taking advantage of that retention thread and getting a new phone with Rogers.

If this deal came up 1.5 months ago, I would be very tempted to gamble and give it a try.

OTOH, I was looking for a BT phone (so got a V551M pay as you go), which this phone doesn't have.

The rebate's good for other PAYG phones bought between August 1st and October 31st, I just chose the 3220iM as the $70 rebate makes it free. If you bought the V551M after August 1st you're still eligible for this rebate.

From the rebate form:
Activate service with Rogers™ WirelessPay As You Go or upgradeyour current Pay As You Go phone with the Nokia 6010M, Nokia 3220iM,Motorola V186M, Motorola V190,MotorolaV551M or Motorola V360M and receive a $70 rebate.

The rebate form from The source excludes Wal-Mart and rogers.com, #646600-51-11. That's the only difference.

So I am assuming someone bungled up the price online and posted the after rebate prices as the cost? So I guess if you get this, they have to honor the rebate? Comments? Nowhere on the rebate form excludes rogers.com... Confirmation they charged you the $69.99 prices on your credit card?

Also, anyone know how you get the $20 activation credit? They include a code in the box? This could be cheaper they buying $20 credit... and throw the phone away... but only 2 per household.

When you call CSR to active your phone, the CSR will give your the $20 credit.

Get this Motorola V360M which has a camera and MP3 player for $49.99 less $70 MIR: http://www.shoprogers.com/store/wireless/products/phones/products_details.asp?shopperID=WFS2VA2ABAVE8PU092J 9SV4MRT181MFF&PRODUCTID=V360RM&summary=1

With the $20 activation bonus, this phone is basically yours for $30. I bought one and paid $119.99 + tax.

EDIT: Wow, post #666. Pretty eerie...

This seems like a pretty good deal to me.....

Any cons that you can come up with?

Phone for a 35yr woman...mainly security and the odd 'mywhereabouts' and get some bread call.

I saw this for at least a few weeks already.
I think the MIR won't work. Rogers will tell you the rebate already subtracted in the price. They didn't advertise it's $0 after MIR, so no legal obligation here. If you bought it online you don't have to mail in the rebate, that's all they will say. The rebate, stands alone by itself, is not a legal contract between buyers and sellers (I think).

If this is the case, Rogers should charge tax on the full value; not tax on $69
because it is a Mail-in-rebate (not instant rebate).
Sound like Rogers is breaking some sale tax law... or maybe I am wrong!!!

MIR will not work because the MIR is handled by rogers itself.

Its handled by a rebate company for Rogers... I think the company is called Resolve.

No, it's handled by the Resolve Corporation. Although I'm not sure what difference that would make either way.

On roger's homepage, it reads: "NOKIA 3220iM $69.99 (Regular price $79.99 after $70 MIR) Order Online and SAVE $10". So yes, the $69.99 is already after MIR.

The price b4 MIR went up to 139.99$. For those who bought it at 69.99$, the 70$ MIR will not work.

The advertising is definitely poorly created. Whether it is intentional or not is another story.

If you manage to pull the deal off and get the $70 mail in rebate and get a V360M for $50, then that is a hot deal!
