Very hot price for something with dedicated fax and copier, and can use high capacity black cart (56). Color and photo printing can be pretty expensive tho.

Costco had it on for $124.99 a couple of weeks ago, very popular.

Okay, so I'm being penny-pinching here, but you could PM Staples:

http://www.staples.ca/ENG/Catalog/cat_sku.asp?webid=620659&AffixedCode=WW <- $144

$143.99 - (143.99-99.99)*0.10 = $95.59 - $2 coupon = $93.59

Basically save slightly more than the GST :cheesygri

Gets expensive fast if you get a lot of faxes.

I went for this one instead: http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0665000FS10065652&catid=10781&logon=&langid=EN

Paid $80 more though than the HP

And no fax modem.

It has a fax modem. According to Staples page, it includes the phone cord, and according HP it has a built-in 33.6k fax modem: http://shopping.hp.ca/cStoreCA/BaseDetails.asp?PType=72&ProductLineId=73&FamilyId=202&BaseId=2513&PView=O&BEId=5&Lang=EN

what does "chipped" mean?

I don't think all HP cartridges are chipped are they? And wasn't HP sued for this practice?

FYI-Chipped means that the cartridge contains a 'smartchip' in it which
stops them from working even when they had ink left in them. (i.e. after a certain date etc. to force you to buy new cartridges).

Epson is the most common user of these chips. Their main purpose is to record the level of the ink, so even if you refill an empty one, the printer will still see it as being empty - thus forcing you to buy a new one.

Can't you add $10 to the cart and use the $30 off $150?? Then do the price match?

i'm thinking about PM as well, but wouldn't it be too late to PM tomorrow? It says on FS's link "Sale Ends:9/14/2006". I wonder if that means 12am PST? ie: before the stores open tomorrow morning, the sale might have been finsihed.

Yeah, I guess you could! Apply the coupon & purchase at the full price, add a >$6 filler item, use the $30 off coupon, and the $2 coupon, then do the PM after you've placed the order at full price!

Would work out to about $63.59 + filler item. Good thinking, OrdG :cheesygri

I don't think they would let you apply the coupon in this scenario since you're trying to apply the $30 of $150 after it's already been reduced to ~$95 after the PM.

Well, my order came to $85.36 after taxes (with filler, PM, and coupon), so I think they just did. :)

well you got lucky, that's for sure....

if this was back in the days of 150% PMing, they'd be REAL strict enforcing that policy for coupon usage...

Lucky! Look at the BS answer I got, they made the FS.ca shipping look real attractive, heheh.

well, it's not really "BS"... cuz the fact is, FS doesn't have free s/h anymore...

whoever can still manage to get a stooples PM quote that voids FS's s/h are either lucky, or have a PM CSR that was careless.... ;)

nowadays, it's more favourable to PM instore to avoid those s/h tack-ons...

I was a bit surprised at how easy the PM was considering I've had nothing but grief instore.

i know ^that lil trick works for PMing FS/BB online... never knew it worked for stooples too.

the thing is, when PMing online, stooples considers PMing w/ online competitors, and online stock...
so technically spking, stooples should've been PMing based on competitor's online price/stock.

... if getting stooples online to PM B&M prices work, that'd mean we can do online PMs for B&M stores like WM/RCSS/Zellers/etc... :?:

anyhoo, congrats that it worked out for you!

I was a bit surprised at how easy the PM was considering I've had nothing but grief instore.

heh,... back in the days of 150% PMing, i'd think the majority of RFDers on here would prefer PMing online... ;)
there used to be too much hassle/BS PMing at a B&M stooples....

The cartiage used in this printer is superb. The #56 prints about 600 pages from experience and the cost is only 26-28 + tax. I personally dont find it expensive at all from past experience printers and the newer printers today. There's a staples branded one as well, that prints 750 sheets for about $25

The new HP printers will only print 210 sheets (#92) and it cost $18! It may look cheap, but for the amount of yield, its terrible.

I've had my HP #56 black ink for about a year and a half, and its passed the expiry date printed on the cartridge and still works

All the figures are based on 5-10% coverage.

I pointed out in my PM request that the ground shipping charge at FS was $4.99 -- big mistake i guess since they added the FS air rate. Again I call BS on staples, they will go to amazing lows to avoid PMs even at 110%. Who cares about their next day shipping rate!

hm... sounds like not all the PM CSRs know about the "FS/BB now charges for s/h" incident...

i recall numerous times where RFDers request for PM quotes and stooples reply in the email says sth like "Shipping: $XX.XX (FS/BB now charges for shipping)"...

anyway, all the better for us! :)
