Are there any good restaurants that is a good place to host a large party (~30 people - a dragonboat team dinner) in Toronto accessible by subway? It'll probably get rowdy with laughing and loud talking and spend around 3 hours in the restaurant. Food quality and price would be a plus but any restaurant with a large private room will do.

The only thing I can think of is the Korean Grill House BBQ where you go upstairs . That's my first suggestion but I am wondering if people know anything else.

kBBQ is fine, there's a few out there that can fit 30 ppl. I like the one @ midland/finch.

don't goto the montana's @ dufferin/steeles. that place is horrible. i went in yesterday w/ a party of 12 and it took 1.5 hrs for the food. and they place wasn't even full.

there is a big thread dissing Korean Grill House BBQ on Queen St:
- re-serving of raw meats / seafood
(customer leaves left-over raw items on plate, waitress gives the raw items to another customer).

I've been to banquet dinners at CN Tower (360) for party of approx. 24 - 30 people. Its not a private room but they will reserve a section for you. Service was great, food was great, atmosphere was great. You can walk onto the glass deck, etc....

You can prearrange with the restaurant for a customized menu that includes appetizer, main course, dessert. For us, it would cost $50 per person not including drinks.

Pickle Barrel, while not having the best food, could surely handle a party of 30. I know people employed there and parties of 15-20 are relatively common, so 30 should be OK. However, be prepared to BE PATIENT; no kitchen can prepare dishes for 30 in 5-10 minutes. It's just impossible — particularly if everyone orders from one section (like pasta). PB, for example, can only do like 6-7 pasta dishes at once, so if there's 15 pasta orders, it's just simple logic that it'll take a while. And one thing: wherever you go, tip well, 15%+ (emphasis on the plus). Unless you've worked FOH (or BOH) in a restaurant, you have no idea what it takes to server parties of 10 or more. Servers often have to buss and clean their own tables, when it comes to large parties (because in a 100-seat restarant, there's only so much the busboy can do), and it's not easy.

Cheers,

MJ.

part of the job, let people tip what they feel is appropriate and stop telling them what you think you should be tipped.

you don't like bussing and cleaning tables, go work at mcdonalds or something. see that way you get paid minimum wage at least, and you don't even need to buss or clear tables. BONUS!!

back to the topic, the spring rolls on yonge has an upstairs and they once seated 20 of us without a reservation. maybe you could call them and ask.

I can't remember, but you can always call and find out. I know we had a really good time there and the value was really good for the money.
