I recently came across this in a forum. Alot of people seem to say its really good but the product is only sold in the UK, South Africa and Australia. I was thinking of getting it but shipping is kind of expensive, so I'm wondering if others in the GTA are also interested in trying it out to share the shipping costs.

Here's info from their webpage. http://www.bio-oil.info/

And some info on their product.

I noticed people selling it on ebay. There's a "buy now" to avoid the bidding part. There's someone selling it, 3 bottles for C $53.95 + $13.51 shipping.
Buying 1 bottle is kind of expensive, so I trying to find others here who maybe interested. I don't think I will be using up 3 bottles. My friend said one bottle lasts quite a long time because you don't apply that much. She said its great for black and white heads. She used hot water to wash her face to open her pores, then she rub the oil for about 20-30 min and the black heads/white heads just come out. I read posts on forums where people tried it and it seems to have good feedback for scars and stuff.

sounds like bull.

"reduces apprerance of.." usually means it's has a placebo effect...

I read about that stuff too... I searched the web and couldn't find it locally.

Oh, I also tried some scar reduction gel from "Equality" - seemed to work, except that it was comedogenic, which was counter productive.

I've also heard Polysporin makes a scar reduction thing, and of course vitamin E works as well.

Anyway, I ended up just exfoliating myself like crazy and it seemed to help. I like the Neutrogena stuff. Either that, or take 6 weeks to heal :)

I use clean and clear black head remover cleanser, it works great and leaves my skin smooth (exfoliate). i"m not sure about other brands and their effectiveness but it's great.

Creams with Vitamin C work really well too and can make your skin look better.

If you want to get rid of blackheads- use a clay mask a couple times a week.
the clay absorbs all the junk in your pores and makes your skin look nice- but you have to keep on using clay masks a couple times a week to keep up the results.

even the cheaper life brand masks should help!

Have you tried Lush's Ocean Salt? I started using it a couple of weeks ago, and some blemishes I had from acne have lightened or disappeared completely.

I've been using bio-oil for 3 days now, and I haven't seen much difference. I ordered 2 large bottles from soompi (I assume that's the forum, you heard bio-oil from. lol) , so if you'd like, I could sell my unused bottle to you.

Hi all,

I've heard about Bio-Oil too. Apparently, it's all the rave in the UK and Australia. Anyway, I did some digging to find out if Bio-Oil actually works on scars, stretch marks, aging skin and dry skin. I found this site called Bio-Oil Review (www.bio-oil-review.com). It seems like the person is testing the product on her scar and has before and after photos. Based on those photos, Bio-Oil seems to work. If you want to look at the photos, visit the site. You can be the judge and decide if the product is legit or not.

Hey guys,
This product is available at Shopper's Drug mart. It's regularly featured in their flyer for I think 9.99$. I've seen it advertised more for its stretch-mark prevention/reduction but oil in general can be very good for your skin as it's gotta be the ultimate moisturizer!

I tried it daily for one month...then kinda forgot about it. I didn't try it on my face cuz i don't think oil is good for my acne.
Anyways, don't see a difference on my scars (but it is an old scar).

hey iris,
your acne may be exacerbated by dehydrated skin since most people with acne (myself included) assume they need to keep their face as matte as possible. in many cases, oil on your face is not a bad thing.. i think we're so used to being anti-oil here in North America..when you look at alternative treatments like ayurvedic etc. they use oil in some form or another.. my two cents! ;)

hey you can buy this from walmart and shoppers, but i buy it in 'bulk' on ebay as it's cheaper.

it WORKS.

my mom had a skin condition and got scars all over her ENTIRE body. no matter how long she waited the scars never went away.

she slathered on body oil a few times EACH DAY and in just a FEW WEEKS they started to fade.

i use it on my scars and face. i have oily skin but it's fine for me. just don't slather it on. a little bit is ok.

was very useful during winter too

Lainy, this may be asking a little too much, but do you happen to have some before and after pictures? Black out the eyes and whatever if you feel it's giving too much privacy.

sorry i don't have before and after pictures of my mom

but yeah i was so happy to see it available in walmart. but it is cheaper to buy in bulk on ebay.

i buy a bottle for anyone i know who is pregnant since it helps with stretch marks too.

but i do have to say that you need to be using it for at least a month to see results.

Umm.. I guess I'm just really cynical, but I don't understand how an oil is supposed to get rid of blackheads when blackheads are caused by an accumulation of oil from sebaceous glands. Also, scarring happens at the dermis, so I don't understand how rubbing some oil on the epidermis is going to reduce the appearance of the scars.

I don't think any studies have proven that vitamin E actually prevents or treats scarring, but given the ingredients you have listed, you can probably compound this product yourself and save the money. LOL, usually when something is said to be "safe for all ages" and no specific dosage is given, it usually means that there is no pharmacologically active ingredient in it.
