so i live by a elementary school.. and today(2nd day of back to school) im driving home from college and i have to drive past the elementary school (i live like 1/2 a block from the school) anyways.. they have a serious amount of police force 2 motorcycle cops sitting about a block apart.. anyways as per usual the streets are jam packed with minivans... it doesnt help that the cop is taking up a whole god damn lane of the street with his god damn motorcycle screwing up the street even more so than it is.. but there is a stop sign at the corner the guy infront of me stops i stop behind him (now i havent broken the law speedwise or no stopping zone etc).. i try to turn on my signal to make a right turn but my wheel is turned in such a way that it keeps turning off so i flick it a couple times.. next thing i know the god damn police are asking me to pull the hell over.. well.. next to me is a minivan and than the curb so i tell him ill pull over around the corner seeing as the street is screwed because your damn motorcycle is blocking the other damn lane.. and hes like no just pull over right here (i think to myself.. err illegally but do it anyways lets just mess up the street a little more.. and if i get rear ended well im gonna make a huge deal about this damn cop) cop asks me for my ID and starts grilling me (i only have my class 7 licence aka N licence). "Do you have your N on the back of your car." etc..
i guess im just ranting because its bull that this god damn officer singles me out of like a pile of cars because i flick my signal 2 times... and he was rude as hell to me treating me like a 2nd class citizen just because im asian and young. Yes, i was driving without a shirt BIG DEAL! lots of guys drive without their shirts on.. my car doesnt have A/C and it was a god damn hot day...
o well damn cops how bout trying to catch a criminal once in a while
EDIT**
o yea the cops were there to enforce a ******** no parking/stopping sign tat makes no sense.. there is little gravel section that SHOULD be used for pickup/dropoff but who the hell knows why its labeled as a no stopping/parking 8am-5pm HMMM lets make the elementary kids cross a busy street so they can meet their parents on the other side!! GOOD CALL CITY OF VANCOUVER thats a smart one.. im sure these kindergardeners can figure out on their own when to cross the bloody street...

It's about time police started polcing school zones. I don't necessarily agree with what they did to you. But they need to enfore the no stopping and no parking signs when kids are arriving in the morning and leaving in the afternoon. It's a safety issue for the kids and other non car drivers. School zones are congested enough as it is, they don't need cars stopping and letting kids in/out right in front of the school.
I have seen way too many close calls because of parents only thinking of their precious children with complete disregard for other people and their children.
Parents should park on a side street or a couple hundred feet away and walk with your kids for the last 200 ft. - parents and kids might even get some exercise this way.

Yes, if there's anywhere that I would condone those damn speed traps it would be in school zone. Far too many kids running around.

Not saying what happened was cool, but driving without a shirt is pretty redneck isn't it?

Op you have a huge chip on your shoulder. Better lighten up your attitude or you can expect to have lots more so-called incidents to rant about in the future.

Driving is a privilege, not a right. The police can demand your licence, ownership, and insurance certificates at any time. Don't like it? Don't drive a vehicle.

They need to give a valid reason...

being a cop is also a privilege.
living is a privilege.. does this mean i can demand a birth certificate at anytime?
being a canadian citizen is a privilege does that mean i can demand to see proof of citizen ship when you come to buy batteries from radio shack?
we have rules and regulations to prevent people from abusing the system.
in addition im pretty sure cops cant demand your pink slip

The school should enforce a strict no jaywalking on schoolgrounds rule. that would lessen the close calls.

as does logic that driving is a privilege and that since its a privilege the cops can ask you for whatever they want. which they cant

It IS about time that the police start patrolling the school zones. There are no stopping and no parking signs all around the school but you always see soccer moms parked there.
IF I am dumb enough to drive by a school during that time I go SLOW, as there is too many kids that run all over and I couldnt live with myself if i did hit one, so I take my time. But I do yell at every driver I see in there vehicle as I creep by in mine that they should ask there kid to teach them to read.
I heard through a friend of someone near me that got mad because of all of the people that did that a few blocks from his house; so he put on some coveralls, put on his ski mask, and rode someone else's bike. Rode right by all the vehicles parked there with two cans of spray paint and hit all the vehicles parked there.
The police do pick on certain vehicles and people driving them. They hit me too, unfortunately theres nothing you can do about it.

someone call the OP a waaaaaaaambulance :P
the police can stop you and demand to see your licence, reg, insurance, even if you did not make any driving infractions. This is their priviledge for being a cop :cheesygri .
if the OP does not want to give the cop what they ask for, go ahead................I hear they serve cheese sandwiches and apple juice in jail.

Not only it's the police's "privileage" to stop you and check ur driver's license, insurance and ownership, it is their DUTY. It's about time that they get some of the maniac drivers off the road, ie. the ones driving stolen cars, cars with fake (stolen) plates, drivers driving without their license (cuz they don't have one and not qualify to have one), drivers driving without insurance, I can go on and on..... If you have all those documents on hand and have no problems, what's the issue?
You can rant about the attitude of the police officer, or even just copy down their badge number and file a complaint against them.

I don't know the exact set up there but I can think of some reasons:
usually, there are volenteers holding the 'stop' sign to allow kids to cross the street.
If one side of the street are fill with parked car, it is hard for the drivers to see the kids coming out when the view is blocked by the parked car. It is safer that way if there is no parked car at all especially when it is a busy street.

I guess you do not drive long enough. In any spot check, you need to provide:
1. driver licence.
2. ownership
3. car insurance
Not even one time, I was asked less than that. If you miss one of them, you are very likely getting a ticket. If not, you have a lucky star that day.

i dont think ive ever been asked for proof of ownership...
not to mention that sometimes people who drive the cars are not the owners of the cars what is the use of asking for proof of ownership?
i guess technically proof of insurance is proof of ownership since the owner is the one who insures the car
apparently than the cop who stopped me did a bad job cause all he asked for was my licence.

did a bad job? you kill me. haha
it is the officer who decides what he would like to see. If he does not feel like asking you for your insurance or registration but only your d/l, then so be it.
better to stop now with all your complaining......you never got a ticket, you got stopped...thats it. life carries on. :)

Yes, he did a bad job because he did not ask for all 3 pieces.
No, the pink slip is not enough. The proof of ownership is a mechanism to show you did not steal the car. If you drive the car and not the owner, it does not mean you cannot have a copy of the ownership.
That is why when a car is shared by the family, all drivers have a pink slip (the insurance company gives you multiple copies) and a copy of the ownership.
