It depends on weave/quality/pre treatment...

Heat does not shrink, tumbling does. If you can, let your cotton dry naturally.

i just bought some 100% cotton shirts and i always say that they will shrink about 1/2 a size when you dry them in a dryer, if you hang dry them they wont shrink

Yeah I've been reminded of the 1/2 size shrinkage this summer from a few tshirts that I've bought. Fit perfectly in the store, only to shrink just enough to feel a little tight after the dryer.

then just hang them to dry and they wont shrink at all
