I personally love wearing flip flops especially during the summer months. I'm really sad that summer is ending and I'll have to resort to wearing shoes from now on! lol :( I bought like 4 different pairs of flip flops this summer and I'm gonna miss wearing them. I really oughta move to Cali. heh

So what are your thoughts on flip flops?

I think Reef makes the best flip flops period. Their durable and stylish at the same time....can't beat that.

Not bad for lounging around the backyard, but in public - they're just not comfortable for me.

Geox Breathable flip flops rock! Crocs are okay but I think they're going to become overplayed like Von Dutch soon enough.

I don't like the cheapy flip flops you can pick up at Old Navy, etc. I'd prefer to spend a little more for pairs like Roxy, I find them more comfortable.

I was told by a coworker who loves flip flops was that if it's at or over $30 dollars, it should be comfortable enough to walk around on the street. Probably because there's some actual cushioning for the sole of the flip flops.

Crocs are quite...ugly IMO, but they're still popular nonetheless.

i don't like flipflops because it hurts between my toes. and they're not tight on my feet so they can fly off anytime leaving me with discomfort because every step i take i gota be careful not to kick it to the person in front of me. They should make slippers with adjustable band and doesn't go between toes!

yea well you obviously want to buy a pair with some sort of arch support. I also prefer leather flip flops over the cheap plastic ones.

oh and I agree, those crocs clogs are real fugly imo!

Rainbow and Quicksilver also makes some nice flip flops.

but I prefer Reef's over anything else.

I bought these 3 months ago and I can't stop wearing them. Perfect for jeans, shorts, cargos etc. best flip flops for guys imo!

I hate flip flops. You cant run in them if you have to, and that annoying slap slap slap on the feet when you walk

The best flip flops by far are Havaianas. They last forever and are SO comfortable. They're pure rubber. I have them in black, brown and white :P

Old Navy's aren't but they make a mould of your foot because the foam is so cheap. Havaianas keep their shape and are totally flat forever.

ditto. I have quite a few pairs and Havaianas are the best. Just wish they had more designs available at more places. Most places I've checked only have the plain colour ones.

I agree that Crocs are pretty ugly (though I've seen a lot of other shoes out there that are uglier) but check out the Croc Athens:

http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/2975/b000eeu09s01a1lem297lnf1fkaa280sclzzzzzzzkh0.th.jp g (http://img291.imageshack.us/my.php?image=b000eeu09s01a1lem297lnf1fkaa280sclzzz zzzzkh0.jpg)

They have all the characteristics of normal Crocs without the ugh factor. The Athens are super light with a contoured antibacterial footbed. They have lots of cushioning and are non-markig and skid-resistant (as in if you're on a boat, you won't slip and slide all over the place). I find them super comfortable and wear them everywhere.

Be warned though, like normal Crocs, they will shrink if you leave them in a hot car, out in the sun, or any other high temperature place.

They're easily available online but they're still pretty hard to find in stores here. Sportchek has started carrying them (which is where I got mine).

I think flip-flops should be banned from work (well, at least in the office environment mainly in downtown). I think that's very unprofessional.

FYI, I've read that some flip-flops can increase your chance of getting cancer because of the rubber chemical that's in between your toes.

same here, dn't like, dislike flip flops, hate it when people drag their feet in flip flops drives me up the wall making that stupid dragging sound. also, the bottom of your foot is all black after you wear them, and I don't want those black looking feet draging around my mouse in my nice white carpets either..

Question how much do Havaianas usually cost in Toronto.

And what styles do they usually come in? Just the plain colours, the ones with the Brazilian flag, crazy funky floral patterns?

Havaianas are $20. I've bought them at Aritzia, Sporting Life (but that was like 3 years ago) and the Bay. They come in plain colours that go with everything like black, brown and white. In the summer months Aritzia has a huge display of different coloured ones but those are gone until next year. Right now they only have the basic colours I mentioned.

They used to have ones that had a bit of a wedge and I remember seeing those at Winners once. I guess they weren't big sellers.

I regret not buying the ones last year at Aritzia that had a heart print on them :(

Birkenstock flip-flops are really comfy and they look pretty good too. They might be more expensive though.

Hm... I'm sporting Oakley's flip flops and I think they're quite nice

But it takes a little breaking in to wear them if you haven't worn them in a while and then they're good for a while.

You can buy Havaianas in Bikini Village too! I scored mine when they were on sale last year for 2 for $20!

I love my $10 Ginga flip flops...really comfortable. They are finally worn out after 5 years of regular summer use, but unfortunately it is hard to find new Gingas for men...

I would never wear flip flops to work although they are cute to wear in the summer with shorts AFTER work. I have a cute pair from Aldo ($15) that many girls have commented on but I think you need the right toes to go in them! I always do my toenails but hate to see people in bad need of a pedicure wearing them! I mean come on people - all you need is a foot file and some cream to make them look good! Not that hard if you ask me!

Can't stand them. I really hate listening to and looking at people who wear them... Sorry... To me it's just not street-wear. Good for the beach or at home, but not on the street/schools/business.

I've got oakleys too and love em. I got a white pair though .. they really stand out. Not for the paler complexion though as white on white doesn't look right

Agreed, but I think they're fine for school, especially if you go to UWO where flipflops are a staple.
