I'm the cheapest guy there is so finding RedFlagDeals was like finding Atlantis! I found this place looking for a deal on a laptop. It was my first time buying a laptop so it became a huge project. I found out very early that Dell offeres some great deals on laptops, so i focused my efforts on Dell Laptops.
After hours and hours (and hours) of talk with Dell sales reps for weeks, I think I have mastered Dell Sales. Check this deal out!!!

The Price.....
$1114.00 +tax !!!!!! WOW!!! I still can't believe how much i saved!!!
The Secrets:
- Not all sales agents are equal. Some people will never budge with prices and some will do anything for a sale.
- You CAN upgrade things not mentioned on dell.ca: If you find a deal on a website, but the option to upgrade certain things are not there... don't fret! If you call sales and ask them to upgrade to an item not listed, they will (for a price, of course). If they say the can't, just tell them that a previous sales rep you talked to let them... they'll say "oh.. one sec.. sure we can do that!"
- You CAN downgrade things not mentioned on dell.ca: Last week there was a laptop deal that included a laptop Carrying bag. I didn't end up getting that deal, but while i was negotiating, I was able to get a $50 credit for not wanting the bag. I also downgraded the OS from Media Centre to Home for like $50 bucks (i have been offered $0, $20, $40, and $50 for the downgrade).
- Not all upgrade prices are equal: If you call one rep and ask for a memory upgrade, they may tell you the price is $240. Then you call another and the price is $90!!! You have to find that special sales rep!
- Don't stop searching for great deals: In the last 2 weeks, i have purchased over 4 laptops!!!! But everytime i found a better deal i just cancelled the previous order. I think you have a week to cancel so don't feel obligated to your purchase. (Don't take my word on the '1 week' thing. It may be shorter)
All you really need is persistance and patients!
I would love to help each and everyone of you guys with your purchase, but i don't have the time (and i'm sure you don't want to be sending me your credit card numbers).
If you guys are in the Mississauga or London, Ontario area and wan't me to help you out with the purchase you can send me an email:
(i have removed the email until i get permission from a moderator)
It took me weeks to get the deal i got, but I'm sure if we met i can save you $150-200 on any advertised laptop on dell.ca. I don't know how many of you are going email me so if i don't respond, it must be because i'm swamped. Otherwise, glad to help.
Feel free to ask questions as well in this thread. Good luck!
Edit: Sorry... i forgot to mention that to get my deal, i always referred to the previous order number / customer profile that i used to match the deal and get a better deal. That is why the only way i could help out is to actually use my personal info to obtain the same deals in-person.

That is the EXACT laptop that I was looking at buying. I keep waiting to order on dell.ca and holding out for a deal but it seems the key is to call in and negotiate. Thanks for the tips, I'll let you know how it goes :D
P.S. You wouldn't happen to have the name/extension of the person you talked to would you?

Don't almost all laptops have the video port to hookup an external monitor?

Wow! Glad to see a lot of bargain hunters like me!
I have a list of a ton of people i talked to so i'm not too sure who i talked to last. Its all about getting a deal with one person and using the deal to get a better deal with another. (I remember extension 5989 being good, but it was a collective effort from numerous sales people.)
All laptops should have an S-video out so hooking it up to an external display should be no problem (not 100% sure about monitors, though)
Me? A sales rep? I WISH i had a sales rep who just gave me the best deal up front! That would have made things a lot easier... lol!

Oh.. nice!
I ordered today, so i'll post the contact person as soon as i get my invoice. But i highly doubt she'll give you an amazing deal unless you have some other deals you've worked on to negotiate with.

Dell is well-known for better call in deals than web deals
but i'm sure the price can't go this much on a laptop
that's around %40 different
you can call and get abit better deal but to get this much i think he did go to like 10 sale rep and each of them throw in for him 1 pieces of stuff
i don't think one sell rep will have the power of give such an discount like this
and normally they will not be stupid to do such a huge discount like what OP mention
but call 20 of them....each of them give you abit discount then follow up would be a HUGE discount
that is how i can imagine how OP can get the laptop at that price
But i'm sure DELL not stupid and not everything have such an amazing skill to bargain for lower price
just my 2cens

Don't know how you guys are thinking but I'm going to report this post just on the safe side.
I apoligize to the OP first, but I also recommend you to remove your contact info and the suggestion to contact you for better deals.
My advice to the buyers is: Do not contact the original poster for helping to get the deal. You know how to do it and if not, post your questions in Request a deal.

Not a problem. Thanks for looking out for me... i didn't know i shouldn't have done that. I have taken my email out of the post until i hear further.
RE the quote: every time i order they tell me my quote will arrive right away, but it never does. I asked them once how long it should take to arrive and they said within 2 business days.

How is this scamming?
Correct me if I'm wrong but the OP is telling each phone rep that the last one gave them a deal and if they'd be willing to beat that deal a bit then he'd be willing to cancel that order and re-order with them (with that sales rep getting the sales commission)
Also...why would you want this thread not only locked but hidden once locked?
Is the information in this thread really that dangerous it needs to be kept from general view?

This guy wants people to contact him directly. This deal is almost to good to be true. Thus, there is most definitely a possiblity for scamming. He might suggest that it would be better for him to call and take care of the transaction and ask for the money.

we should do a group buy on dell laptops. one guy should call in and ask for as many laptops as we need (250ish) and see what price they give  the rep will be inclined to give us a nice discount since hes going to make some nice commision

The web price I quickly configured was ~ over 1800 bucks before taxes.
That's over 600 bucks more than the OP deal claimed. If you really got this deal legitimately through hard work and smarts then I bow to your omnipotence!
You are truly a Dell master negotiator.

I'm not exactly sure what you want me to share. I wasn't trying to hide anything. It was just that to get the same deal / better deal, i needed to use my customer information. Unless you are asking that I share my personal customer information???
I honestly had no intention of scamming / profitting from this. When i started looking into purchasing a dell laptop, i thought prices were fixed! I tried googling all i could to find sales tips, but found nothing. It took a lot of work to figure out the stuff that got me my deal. I just thought i would share what i learned throughout the process. And if someone was in close vicinity to me, i could save them hours of work by just using my work to get them the same deal. Basically, the point of my post was to let people know that there is no such thing as a fixed price!
You are truly a Dell master negotiator.
Ha Ha... sometimes i wish i wasn't so cheap. I wish i were happy getting a slightly overpriced item and not worry that i could've got a better deal!
