hi i purchased the danby 4.4 cu ft. fridge on july 29th, then it was just on sale for $30 offf up to august 27th so i went back in on saturday the 26th to the customer service desk to ask for my $30 back as I had no idea it was going on sale, nd they tell me they can't...she says that because its a manufacturers coupon there is nothing she can do...which is strange, cuz this was my first time doing this at costco so i went to the actual customer service desk and she tells me yes they can, but i had to go to returns...so i go to returns and thats where she says SOL...she tells me that if i bought it the week of the sale, they would honour it...that if i bought it during the sale, then they could give me the discount price...hello, if i bought it the week of...i would have A) seen the big sign over the display B) the cashier would have given me the discount her/himself...

so i was wondering if any "PRO" or eperienced RFD'ers here can lend me some advice on what to do...I know its not much but hey, $30 is $30 and better in my pocket then theirs...

thanks,

the price protection thing might be only 30 days so you are running low on time... meanwhile if I were you I'd try this when another person is doing returns. Not sure if it would work or not, but you could tell them with costco's lenient return policy you can buy another fridge at the lower price then get refund off the older receipt.

Costco has the best return policy out there. Just return your old one, get 100% of your money back, then buy a new one at the lower price. Or if your fridge is already full of food, just buy the new one and then return it using the old receipt.

Or just tell them you are going to do this and see if they smarten up and give you the refund.

This is what happened to me. Originally they wouldn't give me the difference on an item that was marked down two weeks later. So I asked for the manager and she was operating at her senses and told the CS person to give me the difference. Didn't even have to tell her that I was going to bring it back because she probably already knew I would.

That is what I say when I encounter a CSR that refuses to do this, and I am still within the refund window (not just at Costco). They usually process it without much of an argument, so I've never had to follow through with it.

its pretty simple. return the item and then re-buy it. that's what most csrs will tell you to do anyway.

Do you people not know how to read? He clearly says it was on sale until the 27th of August, which was yesterday. Today is the 28th...

If he would have returned it yesterday then ya, but today he can't do squat.

You should have 'bought' a new one on the spot - then refunded it using the old receipt. That's what the Costco staff have always done for me. It is true, that with a manufacturer's coupon, they can't credit back the difference. But you can repurchase at sale price and return it on the spot with your old receipt. [Rather than have both of you inconvenienced by returning your old one.]

Sorry that the sale is over now, but you'll know what to do the next time.

I actually take all of my receipts to Costco when I shop there, in case such an event occurs! I've received $30 back for a Go-Lite, and $40 back on a 15" LCD TV. You never know when you're going to get money back, when you keep all of your receipts on you. Just remember to check prices on items you've purchased, lest they go lower.

You should have 'bought' a new one on the spot - then refunded it using the old receipt. This was my first thought, as soon as I read the original post... no need to go through the hassle of returning the old one then buying a new one.

I think you're really SOL now; because your original purchase was 07/29 and the sale ended yesterday, you don't have a receipt dated during the sale period. Thus, no $30 back.

haha yeah, details people. I work at a CS desk and if someone brought this to me i'd tell them the same thing but on the inside i'd be laughing thinking "hahaha you can't get it"
