In my neighbourhood, there are these bunch of kids who always play on the street. There's no "Ball Playing Prohibited" sign, but they're always playing football, ball hockey or some kind of sport. The reason I care is, what if the football breaks my car window or something, is there a # or someone I can call?

You could probably talk to them. Although I don't think I've been on a street in this country that kids don't play ball on.

As long as theres kids, they will always be playing. Move your car into your driveway or something...

But then again, I feel what your saying...try telling them to play somewhere else, or play up the street...

I'm looking after a car, and its not mine. My drive way is already packed. I definitely don't want to pay for a broken windshield if its not my fault. I guess that's life.

find out where they live on your street, so if damage is done you know where to go for compensation

give the kids some slack. if the window gets broken and you didn't do it, let the owners insurance cover it.
seriously....the kids could be doing so much worse...getting into ****, breaking into your house, selling or doing drugs on your street....
let them be kids and play ball!

i highly doubt that a football would break your winshield, you could always just go ask the kids if they could just watch out for your car and try not to throw stuff at it, always worked for me when i used to play on the street

Well said. I think the kids are better off playing ball than going around doing worse things and maybe you can even join them in a game.

Then why don't they play ball infront of their own home? Same stupid parents who complain when I park my car infront of their house. But its okay for their stupid kids to play infront of mine.

If they do drugs, not my problem. Why can't they go to a park? Where's the respect in that?

Well, Im not happy about people parking in front of my house. It annoys the hell out of me.

You're right though, they shouldnt play in front of your house. Tell them to play in front of their own, cause balls break stuff.

they, or their friends probably live on the block and that area is probably the biggest part of the street.

If it came down to playing ball and drugs, those kids got bigger issues.

When they cracked my driverside window last year, I didn't see anybody own up? Its all fun and games until your stuff get broken.

I am glad that kids are actually playing outside. So many kids are stuck indoors. I'm pretty sure they are playing there because one of the kids live around there.

Playing catch with a tennis ball, foot ball with a nerf ball, I don't give a ****.

Attempting to throw a football the whole length of the street (they can't catch) when cars (besides mine) are parked on both sides of the street, is obviously asking for trouble.

There's a park a FIVE minute walk away, but I guess because their kids its just okay?

Bunch of whiners.

Don't park your car on the street then. If something gets damaged, tough. If you don't have enough room to park you car on the drive way. Tough. It's the risk you take by parking on the street.

People complain how kids are obese and do nothing but sit around all day playing xbox and playstation. When they go out on the street to do something active people complain that how their car might get damaged. Parks aren't always accessible for kids.

Truth is, I saw a phone number to the city about this. Silly me, I thought it would never happen. I was hoping someone would have the number, but I guess not.

If I had it I would give it to you. I have a teen with his 4-6 buddies that like to do jumps off of a ramp using skateboards on Sunday afternoons. It is worse than annoying to have to listen to the sound of a skateboard slapping to the road every time one of them misses to ramp.

Across the street I have the greatest dad in the world. Last summer he bought his kids pocket bikes. No helmets or pads, just the bikes. Last May 24 he showed the sweet young ones how to hold roman candles in thier hands and fire them down the street. It was about 5 minutes before they knew how to aim them at the old lady's house on the corner. She is 92 and terrified of the kids.

BTW The same teens that use the skateboard are the same guys that hang around the small strip mall 4 blocks away. Seems funny to me that every few nights a cab drops off 2 young ladies. After they exit the cab everyone goes to the rear of the place for about 20 mins. Then they all come around to the front and a cab leaves with the girls in it. Somehow they seem different for about another 20 mins. They laugh at the silliest things. That is when the variety store does about $25.00-30.00 selling chips, peanuts, chocolate bars and assorted candy.

Fight fire with fire...get your own friends and start playing baseball in front of each of their houses...or better yet, paintball.

Heheh...I'm glad I live in a new development now, no teenagers yet! It's all young families, I have a good ten years before I have to deal with the hassles that come with that age. Where I lived before was older, and had lots of bored teens, we had stuff stolen or damaged all the time.

Well, if you're willing to pay for all damages to all our properties then I'm sure we'll all stop acting like an old crotchy lady. It's all fun and games till it comes out of your pocket.

Just a hunch, but you aren't the kind of person that will blame a driver when a kid gets run over while playing "outside"...nah, I didn't think so.

Kids should be playing in a recreational area and not on the street. Children playing on the street have lazy parents who couldn't be bothered to take their child to the park.
