I was wondering which one you guys would choose:

The first is the HP Pavilion DV2020CA:
http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?langid=EN&sku_id=0926INGFS10076940&CMP=ILC-BBY_hmpage_slide1#

the specs are:
$999 - AMD Turion 64 x2 (duo)
1.6ghz (533)
1gb ram
80 gb hard drive
3 usb, 1 firewire, multi purpose slot (comes with media remote)

I hear the touchpad is a hit/miss

it's 14' glossy (WXGA), glossy all around basically, so gets finger prints easily all over the laptop

the batteries not that great, i hear 3 hours tops, but it doesn't get too hot and its not too loud

comes with dvd burner (8x) but no lightscribe

Next is a $899 - toshiba laptop with intel duo core T2050
1.6 ghz (533)
1 gb ram
100 gb hard drive
6 cell battery
15' XGA
graphics is intel gma 950

---
Do you guys think either on of these is good, or is an ACER laptop better?
even with lower specs like 512 gb ram, etc.
Thanks for replies

if ur not really tight on the budget, go for the Hp

for 100$, u'll get a nicer laptop. not saying the toshiba isnt nice, just not as nice. also, the hp is a new model, just came out not too long ago (correct me if im wrong)>

and use the 25$ bstbuy coupon.

Go with the Toshiba. Better tech support and warranty care (In my personal experience with Toshiba) and Centrino dual core > Turion x2. Toshiba is also cheaper and most likely uoud be getting a much better screen on the Toshiba.

im currently using the toshiba that u stated. Solid machine hasnt pull anything funny on me yet? letz hope not. Depending on what u need the toshiba is overall a good deal. I wanted decent HD space and since this has a 100gig and 1 gig of ram i was sold. Though may not be much of difference to me i didnt want to upgrade the HD anytime soon.

thanks for replies so far, I'm still undecided.. I hear mixed feelings about HP, Toshiba, seems like the problems ppl have with HP, don't apply to this laptop (overheating), any thoughts on the Toshiba hard drive? I was reading on review forums saying that Toshiba hard drives are one of the worst??

I personally like HP laptops, I have one that I used for 6 years straight without a problem, until now where the backlit needs to be fixed. System still running great tho. As for Toshiba, I have friends who used it and their laptop lasted for around 3 years...so I am not sure. But sometimes, it also depends on the hardware of the system, hopefully you are lucky to get all the good ones.
