This is mostly about outlook 2003 but i'll see if anyone knows for outlook 2000 well.

I have a harddrive that is dying. There's no way windows will boot off this drive. It had outlook 2003 installed and a rather large address book of contacts. I've easily copied over the .pst file to save all the emails but it does not contain the address book. My searches of google and microsoft seem to say the addresses are supposed to be in a .pab file and i can't find one. If i could boot into the drive i would just export the address book but i can't. I've already checked that the outlook express address book .wab is not being used.

Can anyone tell me what file i need to get for my Outlook 2003 address book?
And just for future knowledge, what file for Outlook 2000 if it's different.
Any thoughts appreciated

The format for Outlook 2003 is different from Outlook 2000 / 2002

In fact, the address book is in the .pst file. Try this, CTRL+SHIFT+B and see if you can select an alternate address book. Chances are you didn't even know there was an alternate. But I am guessing that the alternate address book is the one you are looking for.
