I would appreciate your advice and experience!
I'm researching and researching and...trying to find a good review of motherboards for hardcore digital audio editing. No one seems to review systems for pro audio benchmarks.

My ideal system would handle professional multitracking. Similar to graphics, lots of plugins and instruments running, recording up to 8 tracks simultaneously. (lets assume I have the proper pro audio interface as well)

I'm looking at a microATX solution, (small, nice looking cases!) just in case I want to take the pc with me to record.
Graphics are not important, although it would be nice to be able to play some current video games. (WoW etc.)

The professional reviews seem to agree that Intel Duo 2 seems to be better than AMD AM2 in performance and price.

Anyone have any advice on what I might be looking for?
thx!

If you want to do recording, you'll need a quiet, near silent system or it will totally defeat the purpose of having a high end audio card

To get a quiet system, you need a cool system, so the graphic accelerator may not be a good idea...

You'll also need fast HDDs (maybe go with RAID) to do multitracks playback/recording with uncompressed/raw material
