I just dl'ed a torrent, (a n00b to torrents pretty much) and it came in CD1, 2,3,4and5 folders, with files .r00, .r01, .r02 etc, and in them they have a .bin and a .cue file

how do i mount it/get it to work?

sorry if taking about torrents is not allowed here (like most forums) but i am lost

get winrar

use it to extract either the .rar or .001 file

sometimes it comes in either

.rar
.r00
.r01
> .r##

or

.001
.002
.XXX

then use a virtual cd program like alcohol or daemon tools to mount the bin/cue or just use imgburn to burn the bin/cue file

Daemon Tools is what you need. You only need to unrar one of them though...

So that if a piece or pieces are corrupt, the uploaded can then upload just new versions of the bad pieces as opposed to the whole thing.

People who do proper uploading know to include an SFV file in the torrent. Then when you complete the download, you run the included SFV file BEFORE opening RARs with QuickSFV, and it checks if each RAR or piece came in error-free. If not, it tells you which didn't.

PAR/PAR2's are even better... so when things are corrupt or missing, you can CORRECT it.

that's useful for newsgroup since they rarely have 100% completion rate, torrent on the other hand don't need it because you can always grab the file again.
