TRENDnet Router @ FS for $2.99

Well, since it's free and I need a wireless router, just how brutal would this be for use in a small living room (just to get rid of the cable clutter).

I already see a problem with this router: no firmware updates from Trendnet.
Can't find them at all.

How come FS never have Trendnet Wireless PCI cards for sale ? (like $2.99 after rebate) :(

I've tried this router last year when there was another 2.99 AR deal at FutureShop. Either I got a lemon, or the router truly sucks, which can be backed by a lot of other users' comments in an assortment of deal threads. The range was terrible. I couldn't even get maximum signal from the room right next to the router (only "very good", not "excellent"). In a span of 24 hours, without doing anything significant (no heavy downloading, no BT), it froze twice and I had to power-cycle'd it. And then it wouldn't behave with BT when I tried it for the second day. I ended up returning it, obviously
