Hello,

I'm currently shopping for some blank DVD's and came accross some I like. However, they are different in that one package is DVD-R and the other is DVD+R. It says that your DVD burner must be compatible with either one.

I looked at my burner info and it says I have a Philips DVD+-RW. I'm assuming this means I can use either kind of blank DVD's, so my question is:

Which one is better? DVD+R or DVD-R? They are both the same price.

Thx,

Cayoo

No they are not the same. From a technical stand point they are completely different.

In my opinion, DVD+R is superior than DVD-R. However, for practical purposes, DVD-R is more compatible with most stand alone players. Even though it should be the other way around.

Even if you use BitSetting in DVD+R, I still have problems.

Do a little research and decide.

If you can .. purchase a small pack of each +R and -R and see which plays best on your DVD player and any other players you might be using the media in.. I doubt if you have newer devices that it will make a difference, but back in the day some players won't play both.
