Hey all, maybe you guys can give this problem a shot.

I currently keep having crashes that go right to a blue screen - with no error message at all. Here are some peramiters of the crashes:

- Only happens when playing World of Warcraft
- Started happening in Feb., got a new Video Card (ATI Radeon X700) in December.

I'm pretty sure the problem is revolving around the video card. At first I thought the card might be overheating, so I cleaned out my case of dust, moved my wireless card to give it more space to breathe, and left off one of the panels for more ventilation, no luck.

I had Catalyst drivers for the card and read someone had a problem with those, so I uninstalled those and installed Omega drivers. It seemed like it was working for a few hours then CRASH.

Someone suggested it may be some addons I have for the game that are causing it to crash but I've completely uninstalled and reinstalled World of Warcraft with no luck.

I'm back to thinking my problem is heat in the system.

Any help you guys can offer would be greatly appreciated.

My system specs (Mostly Dell standard):

P4 2.2 GhZ processor.
1 GB RAM
256 MB Video Card - ATI Radeon X700
80GB HDD

Thanks!

possible failure of something, hope you back-uped?, format your comp, it usually solves all the problems, if the problem still persists, contact dell.

Hmm, just during WoW eh... does it happen at all with other games? Or is WoW the only one that you play faithfully?

It most likely is overheating that is causing it, or WoW itself (possibly combined with a video card causing crashes) causing instability in your HD. The blue screen is somewhat synonymous with HD problems, and generally very bad.
You might just need better airflow, make sure you're case is up tight, video card fan is working... and your fans are properly set up and get a full load of them to outfit the case. Nothing wrong with a few more fans ever :)

Edit: oh, and I would recommend to stop playing WoW until this clears up, you might cause some permanent hardware damage.

ok lets see...some things you can try,

- Post your Temps (cpu, hdd,mb,video etc)
- Post what it says on the Blue screen of Death.
- Try getting a house Fan and pointing it at the video card so there is always air on it. Run your games and see if it crashes, If it does not then it could very well be a heat problem. Also keep in mind running your computer without the sides Can make your cooling even worse since it messes up the airflow. But if you remove the side and your temps get lower it means you have Bad airflow inside the case and need to get that fixed, by adding more fans or getting a new case etc.
- Windows updates
- Try to get the Latest drivers from ati (if you have not already tried it)

If none of that works then you can check PS voltage's etc etc

Good luck
