Best Buy is selling Sharp LC45D40U for $3199. I think this is the best price so far for a 45" LCD TV.

For those interested, I was able to negotiate a price of $2600 for the 37" 1080p Sharp Aquos set. It retails for $3000, and has been rated one of the best ever by Consumer Reports. PM for details if interested.

too bad costco doesnt carry this newer D90U model.
Is there such thing as a 45" D90U model in Canada?, the 57" is way out of my price range.

I don't think there was ever a 1080p 45" D90 model, only the D40 (which is 720p). 1080p only came in the 37" and 57" panels.

You're right, there never was a D90 model, but there was the following:
Sharp Aquos 45" LCD 1080p, LC45GX6a $3899
I know because I put it into my PocketPC when I was in costco and I watched it for several weeks before they sold out. I tried searching for the model number on Sharp. This is the closest model I could find:

1080P sounds nice, but where do you get the source for it? DVDs are only 480P, and Most HD Cable boxes/Satelite receivers are only feeding 720P or 1080I....not to mention that they cost $400+

This is an awesome deal! I was saving up but not enough yet. >:( I guess I'll have enough money saved up by the time the 1080p 45" Sharps come out. Hopefully, they will have this price. ;)

Sharp cancelled the 45" 1080p LC45D90U (at least for North America). Also, all those previous 45" 1080p models like the LC45GX6U did not accept 1080p input. There will not be a new 45" 1080p from Sharp, so don't bother waiting for it. Their new plant does not make panels in that size.
Instead Sharp will come out with 42" and 46" 1080p models later this year: LC42D62U and LC46D62U. These are considered mid-range models, whereas the 90U series is considered high-end.
There is also a rumor that there will be new 42" and 46" 1080p high-end models in a new 92U series, possibly even before the end of the year...
What is the difference between high-end and mid-range? Probably about the same difference between Sony's XBR-series and non-XBR series Bravia (i.e. more inputs, more post-processing featuers, aesthetics, etc.).

thx for the info. btw, costco.ca is now carrying the 45" D40U model for a crazy price of $3750, so bestbuy deal looks really good now.

I heard many good things about SHARP TV. I am serious consider this brand.
One question - If I need to connect with the TV, what is the feature in the TV should I look at for the best quality?

well my sharp 37" has 2 HDMI and 2 COMPONENT connections personally I like the look of component over HDMI but technically HDMI is supposed to be better. I noticed on the Sharp however that my upconverting dvd player will only upconvert to 1080i when using HDMI cables.
