This seems like a good deal... a "real brand" guitar for less than the el cheapos at Wal-mart and XSCargo. Maybe a good Christmas present for someone? Includes soft case, strings, picks, strap, other goodies.
Hbc.com - Yamaha Complete Acoustic Guitar Package (http://shop.hbc.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=10001&productId=47473&langId=-1)
The same guitar is going for $199 at The Source (http://www.thesourcecc.com/estore/Product.aspx?language=en-CA&catalog=Online&category=Guitars&product=4218100) without the extras, and this article lists it as #2 on the list of beginner acoustic guitars. (http://guitar.about.com/cs/acoustic/tp/top5acoustics.htm) So this looks like a good guitar for a good price.
Yamaha's page about the package (http://www.yamaha.ca/content/guitar/products/acousticguitars/F310P/keyfeatures.jsp) claims this is the best-selling guitar in Canada.

this is a discontinued model and it would retail for $179. A very good deal for a beginner's guitar. The gig bag alone is worth about $35.

I think I bought the same thing for my daughter from Costco 3 years ago. It was ~$125. Her guitar instructor said it is a good guitar.

OOS now, and the page just shows up as an error! I assume it's an acoustic guitar?
I got a similar deal at XS Cargo when it was on sale for the same price $79.99. It's a Burswood, and I assume this is a good brand for musical instruments. It's working like a charm so far!

D'oh! I knew I should have waited until I picked mine up before posting the deal.
I just picked mine up, and the guitar I got doesn't match the one advertised. The one I got was a Yamaha FD02, which apparently was also sold via Costco in the US. The top is a sort of pale yellow enamel, not the woodgrain finish like on the F310. It didn't include the case and other extras either, just the guitar with strings installed and an allen key. The CSR said she could refund my money, but obviously it wasn't going to do much good to try to exchange it for the F310P at this point.
Probably *still* an *okay* deal at that price, but it sure would have been sweet with the extras. At least I have some time to decide if I want it or not, and return it if need be...
Those who ordered it, please post in this thread about what you receive... But keep your expectations managed, this looks to be less of a deal than we thought... >:(

you bought the one pictured (http://shop.hbc.com/fullImage.html?imgPath=/images/catalog/56573702l.jpg&locale=en_US&title=Yamaha%20Complete%20Acoustic%20Guitar%20Pack age) , but got a different model and no extra's?
I got an error and a comfirmation number when i ordered it last night, it'll be interesting if it wasnt the one pictured, especially becuase the had like 3 good quality pics of it including the box.
thanks,
i will post if/when it arrives

Yeah, that's pretty much the situation. The FD02 model I got doesn't have any of the accessories in the picture, and it has a plain painted face instead of the urethaned woodgrain showing. >:-P
You can compare the instruments side-by-side here: Yamaha Guitarchive (http://www.yamaha.com/apps/guitararchives/guitarchive2.asp)
Link to FD02 page (http://www.yamaha.com/guitars/products/productdetail/0,,CNTID%253D62829%2526CNTYP%253DPRODUCT,00.html)
Comparable F310 page (http://www.yamaha.com/guitars/products/productdetail/0,,CNTID%253D62831%2526CNTYP%253DPRODUCT,00.html)
Anyway, c'est la vie. The worst case scenario is I return it and get my money back, and I'm no worse off. But I'm likely to keep it regardless.
