I just bought a boom player that is powered either by AC
plug into a standard outlet or C size batteries.

I am writting to find out if you would know where I can get the best price for a car power invertor?

There's a 100 W (or maybe 110 W?) inverter at Costco for $13.99.

you missed a crazy deal from Canadian tire like 3 weeks ago, for like 14.99$ 150W, instead of 49.99$

I wonder if you can tell me how many volts I need? The device calls for 8 C size batteries.

(may not be the exact model...)

C size alkaline batteries are 1.5 volts. So 8 of them would be 12 volts. How much power the 'boom box' consumes will probably depend on how loud you turn up the volume, but my guess is that the 110 W inverter should be okay for basic use.

Each C Cell is 1.5 Volts

But it depends if it is in series or parallel or both

If it is in series, it would be 12 Volts

I am not sure what the amperage from a C cell would be, I am going to guess at about 400 mA.

If you need 8 of them, are they in series or parallel?

Putting battery cells in parallel increases amp-hour capacity, but does not affect voltage.

Putting battery cells in series increases voltage, but does not affect amperage.

The best thing to do is read the writing on the back of the unit where the adapter goes. It will tell you the Volts and Amperage required to run the device. This information should also be on the adapter itself. Look for the output.

Also, check your car manual. If the accessory socket is only rated at 10 Amps, the maximum you can get out of your car is 120 Watts regardless of what inverter you get.
