Hi All,
Does anyone has experience with The Prince George Hotel in Halifax?
Thanks in advance for your opinions.

It used to be a pretty nice hotel. Halifax is small enough that you can see everything - the citadel, victoria gardens etc. and go to the waterfront. It's in the downtown "core" very close to the water but not right on it. You'll be happy with the service - I think it's still a 4 star hotel.

How much time would it take to see the major attractions in halifax and its surrouding? Thinking going for PEI (one day) and come back to Halifax on the same day, but not sure six days would be enough to visit New Brunswick as well. Any idea?

Despite its small looking size on a map, PEI is too nice of a destination to spend only one day.

Why not golf in Nova Scotia!!!..there's a great course in Pugwash....www.northumberlandlinks.com as well as one of the best courses in Canada in Cape Breton, Highland Links www.highlandslinksgolf.com
PEI seems like a waste of time just to go and golf and come back the same day and pay a $30 or so for the (bridge toll)

I stayed at the PG in Halifax. Its one of the best hotels in Halifax. Try to get a room on the 4th floor (top floor) I believe = best rooms, views and complimentary b/fast etc. I think Weds is the manager's reception with drinks on the patio.
Its up the hill in between the Citadel and the harbour. Try to visit the Old Triangle pub. Lots of great bars with a Keg opposite the PG hotel.
A trip to Peggy's Cove and Lunenburg is well worth it too.
Good luck!

Why not take a drive to the Annapolis Valley and see the tides come in....and then go to Hall's Harbour for a fresh Lobster dinner....YUMMY!!!
About a 90 minute drive from the city.......It's really nice there in the fall....

I have heard great things about PEI for its popularity on beaches and golf which I am not a big fan.
We intended to catch the Ferry early and visit Charlottetown and surrouding areas (for about 5 to 6 hours) and come back within the same day by Confederation Bridge which costs about $40. Would one day be enough to visit Charlottedown to see the Conferderation House and Anne of Green Gables?

It's dooable. Get to the ferry by 10:00 a.m, if not earlier. You can get all you want done in one day, but, but, but why the rush?
Take your time. Spend a night on the island, slow down and enjoy your visit. After your beach visit, go to the Brackley Drive-In, one of the few drive-in movie theatres left in Canada. Try a lobster supper at New Glassgow. Visir North Rustico, an operating fishing village. Great bakery in Kensington - Mary's, opposite the Legion. Have lunch or dinner at the Culinary Institute in Charlottetown. These are just some ideas, there's many more. A rushed trip is perhaps a bit of a waste of time.
Enjoy the visit, leave the rat-race behind.

Hi Ken_II, you are right, it's not a good idea to rush through everything in one day. Our trip was intended for visiting Halifax, and that's why we book all our stay in Halifax.
PEI was close by, so we thought we could allocate one day just to visit the top major attractions (Confederation House and Anne of Green Gables).
You have given me some great ideas where to visit in PEI, but we might have to reserve those for another trip as we are trying to visit most of Nova Scotia at this time. I figured that the total hours of a return trip including driving to the Ferry and coming back via Confederation bridge would require about 6 to 7 hours, then with another 6 hours in PEI, we have ample time just to visit the two top major attractions (Confederation House and Anne of Green Gables). This way, I hope we won't feel like rushing.
Is there any difference to enjoy a lobster supper in PEI or Nova Scotia?

iI grew up in the Annapolis valley! In order to get to Halls Harbour, you have to drive by my old house!! Definately worth going there. Very beautiful!!
Many other great places to visit too. Cape Blomidon, Cape split if you like a good hike (3-4hrs round trip), Grand pre.
All these places are very close to one another. Central location on a map is Kentville.

Hey, I stayed at that hotel - had a whole batch of bad service.
They gave me a room that didn't have a bed (calling down to the front desk at midnight to say that you can't find the bed is a bit weird), didn't give me the right information for wireless internet access, changed the lock key to my room without any warning (so I had to go back down several flights and wait in line for a new key, all in a quick break from a conference), supplied room service with no cutlery, and then got me a taxi cab that didn't take Visa (after I specifically said I didn't have any cash on me).
Never did get a good apology, either.
Apart from that, it wasn't bad...

The Lord Nelson is a much better hotel...that's where we book in all our visitors too (I work at Dalhousie University). They're in the same proximity just better service and rooms at Lord nelson.
There are Lobster Suppers Downtown I think at the Delta everynight and there is another place called the Five Fisherman Restaurant which is amazing for all their seafood and has an all u can eat mussel bar which is sooo yummy! But be prepared a lobster supper does not come cheap.
As for PEI there is about a 2 hour drive between Charlottetown's Confederation House and Anne of Green Gables in Cavendish, unless u have kids I don't see the big attraction of Anne of Green Gables...but that's just me, to each their own. I think the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton would be much nicer than ether of those things.
Good luck with your trip

I just came back from a three day trip to Nova Scotia (absolutely incredible, btw) and stayed at the Cambridge Suites in Halifax. Great room. As their name suggests, all of the rooms are suites with the bedroom separate from the "living room." They all come with a fridge, microwave, and sink as well. It's located at the base of the Citadel and is a quick 5-10 minute walk to the waterfront.
