REMINDER - Please note that portable computers and other electronic devices such as CD players and cellular phones are permitted in carry-on baggage. It is also important to note that outside of yesterday's restrictions of liquids and gels, all other permitted and prohibited items in carry-on and checked baggage remain the same.
The following security measure will be in place until further notice:
Effective at 0300 hours E.S.T. on August 13, 2006, for all flights departing Canada, passengers will no longer be permitted to bring onboard juice or aerosols in containers of any size.
Passengers may continue to bring aboard baby formula or breast milk if a baby or small child is travelling. Prescription medicine with a name that matches the passenger's ticket, insulin and essential other non-prescription medicines are allowed.
Liquids or gels in containers of any size include: beverages, shampoo, suntan lotion, creams, toothpaste, hair gel, and other items of similar consistency. Aerosols include: hairsprays and deodorant. Passengers should pack liquids, gels or aerosols in checked baggage.
The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) is Canada’s aviation security authority. CATSA’s primary responsibility is to enhance the security of the travelling public by ensuring that threat items are not carried onto an aircraft. For information about items that are not permitted in carry-on or checked baggage, please click on www.catsa.gc.ca/english/travel_voyage/list.htm.
All passengers should be aware that no liquids or gels will be permitted in carry-on luggage on all flights departing from Canadian airports. Exceptions include the following:
Baby formula and breast milk, if a baby or small child of two years of age or under is travelling;
Prescription medicine with a name that matches the passenger’s ticket;
Insulin and essential other non-prescription medication.
Passengers boarding flights to the United States will also be requested to remove footwear for additional screening.
The Government of Canada advises all air travellers to keep these measures in mind when preparing for a flight. And advises passengers to pack all non-essential items in their checked baggage and arrive at the airport well in advance of their flight.
Passengers should contact their carrier regarding any possible delays or should they have any questions regarding the status of their flights.

Things are changing daily. Some airlines now (today) allow one piece of carry on luggage no bigger than a briefcase but contents of that case is different for individual airlines, countries and/or airports.
The only thing you can do is call a day or two prior to your trip and ask what the rules are that day. Do not even take the website FAQ's as being valid information, changes are that rapid and fluid.

if it doesn't specifically mention it, it's fine.

NOTICE TO PASSENGERS
REMINDER - Please note that portable computers and other electronic devices such as CD players and cellular phones ARE PERMITTED in carry-on baggage.
This is the policy that will be followed at the checkpoint of a Canadian airport, regardless of the airline you fly.
CATSA/TSA/BAA policies change on a regular basis (to keep the terrorists confused ;)), so be sure to check again before you leave.

I just called Air Transat and the lady told me that laptops, cameras and other electronical devices are not allowed.Probably because there's no space to use them on board Air Transat's aircraft, anyway! :lol:
Talk about being packed like sardines! In any event, what's allowed through the security checkpoint and what's allowed onboard an individual airline's aircraft could vary.. if the airline says something's not allowed on their aircraft, I guess it's not. Though in this case, I would bet plenty of people will have electronics on board, if they get them through security.
But again, you'll have someone sitting on your lap the whole flight anyway, so no point in thinking of using any electronics. :lol:

Here is what I found out, after dropping off a friend at airport this am.
No liquids, gels of any kind whatsover, unless it is for young children. And someone must take a sip of it before going through. Yuk! Insulin and essential other non-prescription medication. Prescription medicine with a name that matches the passenger's ticket/boarding pass;
No electronics of any kind. No cell phones, no laptops, no mp3 players.
One guy was even told he could not wear his watch, because it had a calculator or tv on it?
Certain gums that have gel in the middle, like Trident Splash & Halls Centres are also not allowed. Toothpaste is not allowed. Gel pens are not allowed, but regular ink pens are. Contact lens solutions and contact lens cases, with liquid in it are not allowed.
Once your passed security, the only drinks available are coffees and liquor in the lounge, but you cannot take it on board with you. No bottles with caps, like water are allowed passed security. Everything must be checked in with your luggage.
One lady ahead of us, asked the Airline CSR, that since her maxi pads contained gel, if that was allowed. :lol: Well, let me tell ya, The male CSR just froze, and then everyone laughed there heads off. And in case you're interested, yes feminine pads with gel are allowed on board. :cheesygri .

That contradicts what CATSA has on their site. Was this enforced by the airline or the checkpoint?

At security.
I wonder when they changed that, because we were told BY the airline 1st, and then security. My bf was told he had to check his ipod, cell, AND laptop into his checked luggage, because he had been told by another co-worker that he could take them on board.
Jeez. I wish they could have gotten their facts straight. i just bet, he is gonna find out about this mid-flight, and gonna fume. Not litteraly of course.
He should have checked the website, like he had thought to do.

A ridiculous overreaction by the BAA (UK). Because stupidity knows no bounds, the TSA and CATSA followed along with their own expanded versions of the dog-and-pony show.
