So just how many of you RFD members go to this school? I've seen quite a few of you browsing the forums during lectures. Tsk tsk.
Don't worry... I do it too. ;)

I am also in Commerce. I'm going into 2nd and 3rd year? I started late (January 2005), so that's why it's a tad confusing. Maybe we have some classes together. ;)

Last year, my teacher told me that this school hasn't had a graduating class yet, will this be the year?

How do you guys like this school? I remember they come around to my high school back in Grade 12, and the school looked very promising. I sold out to a school with a more established name.
I bet I would have learned more at UOIT.

The school seems very good. Very technology oriented in everything. I definitely don't regret my choice. And my laptop is a year old, but still a P-M 1.86/1gb/60gb/X300/combo drive so it works nicely...I think there are some 2 year old laptops still kicking around though.
I don't think this is the first graduating year. Concurrent Education is only a one year program, and I'm guessing that they would have some 3 year programs as well...but this is the 4th year they've been around (I think).

LoL, EVERYONE asks me that. Honestly, I thought that the program at UOIT would benefit me alot more in the future, this was before I chose HR as my specialization and realized that York had one of the only undergrad HR programs in Canada (B.HRM). Arrrghh. Anyway, I definitely see the Pro's and Con's of both institutions i.e: the over abundance of groupwork @ UOIT and the fact that whenever someone asks me where I go, and I tell them "UOIT", they just hear the "U" and the "T" and just assume U of T...and I have to go into a big speech about it being a new school...blah blah blah, but I definitely do not miss York lines...wow, there was a wait for almost everything at that school....damn.
But yea, I still have some books for sale: Operations management, Legal Envt of Business, Math Foundations for Biz, Socio, Psych, HR (text and case book), and also a York U Information Systems book . Let me know if you're interested

The 'shwa is slowly changing, at least everyone isn't driving rusted out beretta's and Corisica's in that dump anymore.

With 81% average, you probably got $6k scholarship offer as well. I am in the same year, same program, except it's actually just IT since we can't choose our majors yet. I got accepted with a low 70s average.

I noticed a couple of people in mechanical engineering, is this even accredited at UOIT as this press release seems to imply that only the Manufacturing and Nuclear Engineering programs are accredited. My nephew considered going there for engineering but the lack of accreditation would be a major issue.

You're correct, so far only the manufacturing and nuclear engineering programs are accredited. Your nephew will not get a ring if he attends UOIT for mechanical engineering.

Thanks, while I'm not sure if he even applied there, when he asked about engineering I told him to make sure whatever school and program he applied to was accredited. I'm surprised they are able to attract students to an unaccredited program, particularly something like mechanical engineering where being able to get your PEng designation is fairly important.

I don't go to OUIT, but the mechanical was introduced later than nuclear engineering, so it's common the program doesn't get accredited until the first group of mech. students graduate. Most programs do get accredited. I have never heard of one that didn't. If they did, the program coordinator should get fired !
