Hello,

Can anyone relay any advice on what to ask the company, and how to proceed should one decide to move to the US for work? I interviewed with a company who are interested. Waiting for them to get back for 2nd interview, and face-to-face meeting. They said they have immigration lawyers who will take care of things.

Some questions I can think of is to make sure that the right fit is there, and about green card status if dismissed, compensation and relocation assistance. Also, I should get everything in writing, and even taking it to a lawyer.

Anything else you guys can think of, or if you care to share your personal or friend/relative's experience, that would be great. Thanks in advance.

Take a look at http://www.grasmick.com/ for some information.

If you have immediate family, say parents, yes.

If you are in a highly desirable industry, major shortage at, yes.

Otherwise, employer has to sponsor, which they are usually unwilling, unless they have to.

Moving to the US is not my first choice. Over the past week, a US company approached me after seeing my resume on a job site, and seemed really interested. The position seems really interesting, and the initial discussion on money was good also. The company was the one who said they have immigration lawyers who would take care of things.

I was just wondering what to ask of them, and what "homework" I need to do if things proceed further.

Thanks, Rehan, for the site. I'll take a closer look.
