Has there been any word on this? Like a recent update? It's been months since they mentioned it and I'm wondering if anyone has the latest on it?

Students mull TTC U-Pass offer
Student leaders will meet today to discuss the merits of a new Metropass proposed by the TTC.
A discounted "U-Pass" for around $59 per month may be offered to undergraduate students by January 2007, the TTC announced Wednesday.
The catch? All students would pay for it in their fees, regardless of whether they use the TTC.
Students can now get the monthly Metropass at a discounted rate of $87, from the normal rate of $98.25.
The TTC's offer won't be implemented unless three GTA universities or colleges agree to it. Each school must hold a referendum to allow its approval, as has been done in the past with issues affecting an entire student body...
Student leaders from York University, University of Toronto, Ryerson, George Brown College, Humber Institute of Technology & Advanced Learning and Seneca College will meet at Ryerson this morning. No official action can be taken until after a Jan. 25 meeting of TTC officials.

Defintely not $50/year. ~$60/month, though still cheaper than metropass.

all universities previously gave a metropass discount
$87 per month which is still pretty expensive
$59/month is a great deal.. but that made it mandatory for all students which is hurtful to those who don't use the ttc

$50 for the entire school year? If so that's better than UBC's $22/month u-pass.

well as long as they don't change the metropass for students, the ones that don't use it can sell it?

I'm pretty sure it's $100 a year. $50 per semester.
