I am searching on ebay and I see some gps navigation systems for a pretty good price (even after shipping). Does anyone know if there will be problems with buying those online? example: if it's shipping from china or europe, would the maps be ok?

You should always be aware of what you are buying no matter where it comes from. If you get it from an overseas source, all the more reason to check thouroghly.
Check the notor vehicle forum and sarch GPS. There have been many threads on this subject.
Sometimes, paying a little more and knowing the source, is the best bargain around.

Some GPS units have more up-to-date maps of certain countries. Where are you located?

Stick to a unit from Garmin. The maps on the Tomtom units are not as up-to-date for Canada.

I have the TomTom 5 on my Palm. The unit had TomTom ver4 2 years ago. And TomTom gave me a 1 time upgrade last year to their ver5.
I found TomTom is fine with Toronto and surround area.

Of course sometime if you get an old model (new unit with less $$$). The preload version may be old and it will be out-dated.
