Got a question for anyone who has experience with Baltimore (BWI) airport. Is 50 minutes enough to make a connecting flight?

The flight I'm looking at is a southwest flight fro Buffalo to Nashville, with the connecting flight in Baltimore.

The plus side to this flight is that it'd cost less for me, and could possibly enable me to meet up with a freind in Nashville, thus saving me the cost of a rental car.

My alternative is going to be fly round trip from Buffalo to Altanta, and rent a car to get where I need to go. (I'm actually going somewhere else in Tennessee for the weekend).

Right now I'm leaning hard towards the more exensive, although direct route through Atlanta. But I'm just exploring all options.

Is 45 minutes just cutting it way too close? No checked luggage by the way, only carry on.

all comes down to if they are on time. I have flown with connectors many times out of Buf and just recently had a conncector I missed by about 2 min. They would not reopen the doors for about 10 of us even though the flight was not pulling back from gate. Our luggage somehow made it though. They just put us on the next flight 2hrs later.

Yeah, that's what I'm worried about.

With 45 minutes, the flight from Buffalo being late at all would put me in a really tough situation.

I think the deal breaker for me is that I really can't afford to miss the connection. Missing the flight would miss my ride, and pretty much screw me over for the weekend.

Which is why I'm leaning towards round trip to Atl. Might cost a bit more, but at least then I know the weekend will work out.

SWA has one of the best on time records in the airline business.

We have flown them many times and have never been late!

45 minutes is enough time as you will not have to change terminals (all SWA flights go from the same area) and you will also already have your boarding pass with you for the 2nd leg of your journey.

I would not think it would be a problem - but you are the one who will be worrying the whole time!

I did it last year Buf to Balt. and then on to Tampa and back again with Southwest. Never had a problem either way and Baltimore Airport wasn't hard to figure out. Can't really remember how much time I had between flights but it didn't seam to be too long.

Thanks for the tips.

I'm looking at Nashville still, though leaning still towards the direct through Atlanta.

Not really due the connect,as much as it looks like the time between my freind gets in, and when I'd get in. Might not work up to meet up with him and thus save a rental car.
