DH and I are on vacation next week with no where to go, so we're going to do local tourist things..

We want to go to the 1000 islands and do a cruise, which one do you recommend specifically? Is it worth going into the castle or is sailing around good enough? I'm looking at the Rockport Boat line right now. Is a long cruise with lunch and 2 castles too much (also $s) or a 2 hour sightseeing cruise is better? any thoughts?

Also, we want to spend a day in cobourg and port perry. Any recommendations as to what to do there?

We're both more slow paced, relaxed, don't really want a crazy jam packed day. A leisurely walk, lunch, that kind of thing.

thanks

Well Cobourg and Port Perry are all quite some distance from the Thousand Islands region, so keep that in mind.

Your best bet for an excellent Thousand Islands cruise is the Gananoque Boat Lines (http://www.ganboatline.com/) located both in Gananoque (the big boats, also offering a 3 hour cruise) and Ivy Lea (smaller boats, 1 hour cruise). Gan Boat Lines also has an option for a cruise where you'll stop at Boldt Castle in Alexandria Bay, New York state. If you choose to do this make sure you have all required proofs of citizenship needed to enter the United States as you will clear US Customs once you're on the island (you'll also be cleared by the CBSA when you return to Canada).

And yes, Boldt Castle is absolutely amazing, sad story behind it though.
