I was looking at this Dell Latitude D820 deal on their website and not sure about its video card: 512 MB NVIDIA® Quadro NVS 120M with TurboCache
What's Quadro NVS? I read it's better for 3D applications, but which video card doesn't? What's the difference between this and 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 7900 GS (or 256MB ATI MOBILITY™ RADEON® X1400)? I'm comparing Inspiron 9400 and Latitude D820.
Thanks!

Most likely something like a Geforce 6200

The Quadro gpu series is meant for business workstations. IE: 2 display functionality, good 2d performance, good rendering performance but not meant for gaming at all.
If your going to be gaming on it, the Geforce or Radeon cards will serve you much better.

No they wouldn't, the NVS 120m is based on the Go 7400. The default drivers may not be optimized for gaming but it's still comparable to the Mobility Radeon X1400 and Geforce Go 7400 in gaming performance. And you can simply install modified drivers instead of the stock Quadro ones.

It's up to the poster if they are comfortable using modified drivers, etc. But since they do not seem to be experts at computers, I wouldn't reccomend it..
