Cogeco Standard = 10Mbps

Noticed recieved in email, standard is up from 7 Mbps to 10 Mbps, as of august 1st, for the same price!

Actually, price increases are set for August 16, 2006. Did you get the letter in the mail?

Price for Standar highspeed will rise from $44.95 to $47.95 without a bundle. Or with digital cable from $39.95 to $42.95....

I am using DSL now, but I saw the notice at my parents place.

Just call Rogers and complaint
They will give you a $10 credit each month for 1 year

I got that earlier this year. Its about time to call them up again.

Rogers is 43.95 Monthly for Regular Service
or 46.95 Monthly for Extreme Service

If you bundle you save 15% on either service with Rogers.


So how is Cogeco so "cheap"?

This is how Cogeco is so cheap....

I get analog cable and hi speed internet on Cogeco.

I called to complain about my internet price going up from $42.95. The very same day I got the notification from Cogeco, Sympatico mailed me a promo offering hi-speed for $30/mo for a year.

At first they said they couldn;t do anything, so I asked to be connected to the disconnection department.

The new rep said he couldn't reduce my internet rate, rather they would hold it at the current rate.

Then he proceeded to reduce my cable TV bill by $18/month. Thats as good as a reduced internet bill.

In my mind, I have a 10MBps service for less than $30/mo.

Effective today...

HSI Standard has been increased from 7Mb to 10Mb
HSI Pro has been increased from 10Mb to 16Mb downstream.

You will need to reset your cable modems for the changes to take effect.

Not too sure what the bandwith is like in Hamiliton but in Niagara they are capped at 30gigs a monht up and down. I'd rather have Rogers which is slower but you get 100 gigs.

That of couse depends completely on what you do with your internet each month.

The HSI Standard cap is currently set at 60 GB, and the Pro is 100 GB.

As well, people cannot choose between Rogers or Cogeco it is dictated by what service area you live in to which provider you can recieve.

It is only fair to compare Cogeco/Rogers vs. Bell or other ISP providers.

True enough. What I meant to say is I'd rather have Rogers speed but their cap.

However it is nice to see that they raised the limits because when I checked a few months back at my parents house it was still at 30 gigs cap.

Guess Rogers has nothing on Cogeco now.

The faster speeds means you will just hit the cap a lot quicker
