Im from Chicago, and comming for my yearly vacation to Toronto area. Was wondering if any of you guys know where some Asian petshops, im looking for fish and aquarium supplies. I am also looking for stores that might have imported fishing tackle from asia/ japan.

Last time i went to Toronto, i found 2 asian pet shops one in the mall next to pacific mall, and the other across the street. Are there any more in Markham, Scarborough, Richmond Hill and Toronto area?

The one in market village (next to pmall) has moved to 2nd floor this year. They are one of the biggest store here in Toronto and they have some nice fish!!! some are like SUPER EXPENSIVE

I think Big Al have some asian fishing supplies.

Otherwise, the Pacific Mall area it the place for you to go. There's also 2 more stores in the plaza across from it, one by the Staples plaza, and one by the plaza beside Royal Bank

All on Steeles.

I think there's one on Kennedy too... in the same plaza with Pizza Pizza or in one of those plaza's near by.

Specifically, what kind of fish are you looking for? Any ideas how you are going to get these fish back to Chicago?

yep, the popular fish store at Market Village (next door to Pacific Mall) has moved to a bigger location on the second floor of Market Village .

then across the street on Silver Star Blvd, next to Skyland de Shanghai restaurant, is Aquapets, which has some cool items.

Nearby, on Steeles, next to Royal Bank, is another aquarium store.

Yeah, I'm thinking that US customs is not going to let you just take this fish across the border.
Sure, you could hide them in your car and hope for the best, but if you get caught, you're in some serious *****!

Exactly Shaner! I know that to bring live fish into the US one needs import permits (friends that show expensive koi). Airlines do not allow fish as carry-on and only a few airlines ship live fish. You'll pay through the nose for this service and they take no responsibility that the fish will even arrive live. One must know how to pack fish for shipping and have access to oxygen to pump into the bags before sealing. Live fish shipping is best left to the pros that do it on a regular basis...

Can you clarify what type of store are you looking for? Is it:
A) a pet store that carries pets and fish & accesories that are predominately found in regions of Asia
B) a pet store that is owned by Asians and employs only Asians in an Asian shopping centre?
C) An Asian establishment that sells cats & dogs & other domesticated pets?

I've personally never seen C) before, an asian store that only sells Cats & Dogs? I Wonder why that is?

More of an A type. Last year i went i think the store was Aquapets across the street from Pacific mall area. And specifically i was looking at fish accesories/equips. I doubt ill be able to bring fish back, but im looking for these small curved corner cube fish tanks that are made in japan i believe.

I also want to just look at the more popular asian fish. such as Flowerhorns and Arrowanas since those are pretty rare in chicago.

As for fishing tackle, im looking for fishing rods from japan or taiwan, i had a friend bring me back a pole from taiwan that folds up to 1 foot but extends up to 20' and are ultra sensitive. So im looking for more of those extremely long teloscoping fishing poles
