Anyone else in Mississauga just lose power?

THere was a half hour blackout here in Mississauga. Power is back now. I had my hopes up, thinking this was going to be another massive blackout, but noooo :twisted:

Was anyone else affected or was it only in the Hurontario/Dundas area?

yup, i too live close to Downtown Mississauga, not a problem here.. must be because the electric grid in 5 and 10 is still the old skool mississauga hydro grid, and when a wire breaks, it knocks down power for quite a while..

That's called a brownout, not a blackout ;)

Blackouts are total power losses for entire grids, and are almost always advertised the next day or immediately. Brownouts are temporary and are sometimes induced by the electric company in the case of over-consumption in order to avoid a blackout.

Brownout = dimmed lights (usually caused by drop in voltage)
blackout = no lights

My guess is he turned down the light dimmer by accident, and thought it was brownout.

i did have no power for almost 30 minutes...i'm in the northwest section of mavis/eglinton...that's why i posted here to see if anyone else was in the same shoes as me...and had telephone issues afterwards...

my telephone lines are ok now...hehe
