You are a student at one of Canada's toughest and most respected universities, yet you are incapable of handling the courses? How did you get accepted there in the first place?

In that case, why not just do a course that you think you'd enjoy?

you're talking about UofT School of Graduates, completely different story with School of Undergraduates, so much that UT school of graduates barely take students from UT school of undergrads... nuff said

[edit] btw I go to UT as well

Are you at Waterloo? ;)

AST221 was pretty easy. I've heard PHL240 was a joke.

York > UofT

York is a joke, has been since it was built...
Ever seen those shirts that say "York Dork"? I know students getting 50's at Mac and Waterloo and UTM that went to York transferral and graduated with 80's and 90's (BSc's and economics). Pure joke..

in canada? yes...go anywhere else in the world and all they will recongnize is UT. even waterloo, mcgill, queen's dont have the presence of UT, simply due to UT's size and huge endowment and donations and consequent high profile reserach it conducts.

again, its only the graduate school, and for specific degrees only. an undergrad degree from UT does not mean anything at all.

again, its only the graduate school, and for specific degrees only. an undergrad degree from UT does not mean anything at all.

um...i was talking bout the reputatoin of the school not specific programs and undergrad included actually. e.g. i have friend at UCLA, only know of UT in canada, samething with my cousin a prof at berkely.

a school with a good undergrad such as xavier will never get recongition of a good grad school. grad school is only thing that makes a particular uni/college prestigious in the world. so if you were in the states and applying for a job etc... a UT undergrad would be exponetially give you better chance than a say wilfred laurier or xavier or whatever good undergrad school you wanna use.

but what sucks most about UT undergrad, is due to the high caliber of the student body, it becomes much harder to get good grades at UT undergrad than waterloo (having been to waterloo and UT myself) or say York   . so w hen it comes time for grad school, you went to UT would be a disadvantage because of much tougher environment and lower cgpa than if you went to york or what not.

but your points arent wrong, they just apply to every school, e.g. UCLA. in the states, UCLA is a prestigious school but my cousin who grad from there will readily admit many schools undergrad programs are better, but UCLA name gets them the edge.

in the end, UT is the most prestigious canadian unversity to people outside of canada and even within canada especially to those who do not know all the programs or differences. e.g. jus tlike common perception a harvard degree is superior to a rochester degree eventhough rochester is better than harvard in a select few areas.

you sure know how to make a credible statement, all of those sources to back you up

as for our sources? look in any universities rating articles, UofT will be included as one of the top, if not the top university

toughest? that depends on the person, depends on whether or not that prof's teaching style and the student's learning style are compatible

most respectable, you cant deny that, most people in the WORLD knows about UofT, while waterloo is a good school for some things, it is not as well known internationally

Find Professor Marcel Danesi and take any and all of his Semiotics courses (I think they are at Vic). He is a great prof, you'll find the course enjoyable and interesting. Oh, and easy too.
